Snow Hill Methodist Church Cemetery, Snow Hill Road, Cowee Township, Macon County, North Carolina

The cemetery is well maintained and is surrounded by a chain link fence. Surveyed by Philip Underwood Sheppard on May 1, 1999, and June 20, 2000.

The survey began with the row closest to the road working back through the cemetery. Some information has been excised to protect the living. Marriage dates are given only if they appear on the gravestones. The letter “F” in the far right column indicates that the information was derived from a funeral home marker. A date that falls somewhat between the birth and death columns indicates there was only one date on the stone, and I couldn’t determine whether it was a birth or death date.

Interesting things:

Elizabeth M. Smith, died on her birthday, age 100 yrs.

The most interesting spelling of the name “Henrietta” I’ve ever seen: Enerreter A. Shepherd.

Most moving stone: William D. Parrish, killed in WWII - “Who paid the supreme sacrifice that others may live in Freedom”
