Character Details
Alias (cast choice: Jeff Daniels)
Physical: Average build, indistinct features, often appears different from scene to scene depending on mood and intent, appearance reflects inner feelings (even when he doesn't want them to), carries weapons, soldier-like apparel, actual ethnicity is black South African but rarely assumes African appearances due to embarrassment over heritage created from earlier childhood experiences. When in combat, Alias wears a hood over his head (somewhat similar to Grifter in WildCATS).
Persona: Professional, quiet, reserved, socially phobic hidden beneath militaristic demeanor, relies on soldier personality to hide insecurities.
Banzai (cast choice: male of Samoan descent, although similar to Jet Li in fighting style)
Physical: Slight of build but very well toned, wild wavy hair and an almost frantic gleam in his eyes, his bright red apparel with other flashy accents reflect his oddly mixed lifestyle, smiles almost constantly, gives the appearance of being reckless and carefree.
Persona: Born and raised in Samoa, trained in martial arts in Japan, and found the surfer lifestyle in Hawaii, Banzai is a wild mix. Actually frustrated at being forced to live, he is suicidal in intent but appears to have an exuberant zest for daring maneuvers. All of his movements are outlandish, over-the-top, highly physical, and reckless, delivered with near-psychotic zeal.
Barron (cast choice: "Victor Newman" from "The Young & the Restless"))
Physical: Broad physique; rather burly; full moustache; hair is clean cut, neatly trimmed; generally wears very expensive and professionally tailored business suits with an ankh tie pin;
Persona: carries himself with a great deal of authority and his own sense of self worth, yet remains humble at heart; recognizes the structural hierarchy of organizations and remains quite comfortable as Seth Osiris's chief of operations.
Canyon (Proudelk, William) (formerly Coyote) (cast choice: Robert Beltran from Star Trek Voyager)
Physical: Native-American; Canyon is trim and muscular for his age with long black hair that is gray at the temples. He has a probing half-squint to his eyes. He wears some Native American jewelry but it is understated. His costume is shows an obvious connection to the earth, possibly a sort of earthen "armor". The Amulet of Earth is prominently displayed on the suit.
Persona: Canyon is charismatic enough to be The Veil's leader, humble enough to seek Osiris's help when needed, and loyal enough to be recognized as one of the key figures in any group. His personality is similar to Barron's but he is more spiritual, constantly searching for the secret forces that give man's life meaning and purpose.
Chapel, Rhiannon (cast choice: none - original artist rendering)
Physical: medium-length blonde hair; tall and shapely, but slender of build; medium length curly hair; her eyes reflect intelligence, confidence, genuine sincerity and keen wisdom; dresses appropriately for her situation, i.e. sharply tailored and very trendy business suits, feminine flowing skirts and sun-dresses, casual skirts and tops, etc. She prefers the color white.

Physical: fairly short, middle-aged and rotund with a drastically receded hairline; full-faced with rather large jowls, not ugly, but certainly not an attractive man; wears suits that are designed to make him look perhaps more important than he is with bold power ties; smokes cigars; married - wears wedding band.
Persona: revels in the position of power given to him as the Malibu Police Commissioner; arrogant and insulting toward others; seeks to maintain a tight reign on the cities activities and has political ambitions beyond his current station. Despite all of his drawbacks, however, the commissioner does have the city's best interest at heart and is willing to take shortcuts if necessary, to insure the city's safety and prosperity.
Ember (Montford, Katherine Anne) (formerly Mercy) (cast choice: Catherine Zeta-Jones)
Physical: Beautiful Italian female with a devilish grin. Her hair is long, black and curly, but she usually has it pulled up. Her eyes are a shiny chocolate brown with long lashes. She is tall and sleek. She dresses in a suit that shows strong similarities to the habit of a nun but it is radically altered to be tight, provocative, and revealing. Her costume burns in some areas with a low-level flame (perhaps where the white areas would be on a nun's habit depending on the overall similarity to that raiment). Her eyes also literally smolder at times, especially when she is angry or otherwise emotional. The Amulet of Fire is displayed prominently on her costume.
Persona: Ember is a die-hard professional, intent only on completing the "mission".
Fleming, Kiki Su (cast choice: Krista Allen)
Physical: long black curly hair; seductive blue eyes; wears short, tight clothing bordering on trampy; long, manicured fingernails.
Persona: gregarious and sociable; very conversational - warms up to people easily, especially men; slightly overemphasizes her reactions (i.e. smile, laugh, etc.) for the effect of flattering the person she's reacting to as well as drawing a little extra attention to herself.
Harper, Shane (cast choice: Shawn Michaels)
Physical: strawberry blond (almost red) hair; blue eyes; tan; tone; very athletic and handsome; also has a lot of charisma.
Persona: Mark's best friend; borders on cocky; thinks he's a ladies man (and gets his fair share of them); loves physical activity; into a lot of different physical hobbies, especially those that involve risk (sky-diving, rock climbing, etc.); also very intelligent; a former street thief who has reformed and made something of himself through his computer skills and savvy
Holland, Mark (cast choice: David Duchovny)
Physical: (will change at various states in the comic); depending on his state of mind at the time, his physical appearance will reflect that.
Persona: His changing physical states reflect his somewhat unstable mental health, however, it also shows his emotional evolution throughout the comic. Basically, he travels from a point of uncertainty, depression and lack of purpose through a transitional phase of forced self worth and confidence to a final state of higher wisdom and inner peace.
Ion (cast choice: Annie Lennox)
Physical: tall; short, spiky red hair; unattractive and strange looking; yellow eyes; long legs, not very shapely; large frame. When she gets worked up, her eyes will, literally spark. Sometimes in combat she will surround her body with an electrical nimbus, causing her body to appear bathed in a cascading electrical field with electrical streams smoldering from her eyes and off the tips of her hair.
Persona: highly intelligent (genius-level); has several PhD's; very haughty and smug; uses her intelligence to belittle those around her. She's convinced she's the most capable person in any group, but tends to put herself in groups where she can be assured of her superiority.
Janus (cast choice: Christopher Walken)
Physical: tall and thin; long black hair slicked back in a very straight ponytail; green eyes without pupils; wears narrow, green-shaded glasses that hide the fact that his eyes have no pupils; wears a 20's style suits (stylish, but sort of antiquated, but he makes it work) with pinstripes and carries a pocket watch with the infinity symbol engraved on it.
Persona: Cryptic
Jarred, Carl (cast choice: Ed Harris)
Physical: brown eyes; black hair with receding hairline; hawkish nose; wears cheap suits; very plain and unattractive; married - wears a wedding band.
Persona: smug and abrasive; harsh and quick-tempered; has concluded that most of the Malibu populous is low-life scum and that the city is lucky to have him.
Keith, Gary (cast choice: Kid Rock)
Physical: toned but wiry; shaggy hair; dresses in Armani suits; wants people to know he has money to blow; wears a lot of gold jewelry (watches, rings, lapel pins, etc.); comes off as a well-dressed punk.
Persona: A well-dressed punk; lower class guy that found himself in a position of money; he takes advantage of his wealth and uses the security provided to him as an employee of Osiris to try and take whatever he wants out of life without any regard to others. He's easily frustrated and angered and deep inside doesn't feel worthy of his position.
Lucero, Alexander (cast choice: John Travolta)
Physical: Middle-aged; hair worn in a short stylish manner (conveys that he still views himself with the same super-confidence that he had as a pro-wrestler; former pro-wrestler turned politician and businessman; still in tremendous shape with a great deal of charm and charisma.
Persona: quick to speak his mind and often is a little short of being politically correct, but is charming enough that he has a great deal of popular support.
Lucero, Alexandra (cast choice: Sherilynn Fenn)
Physical: short red hair; glasses that make her face look kind of harsh (which she intends); She's small, but wants to be taken very seriously.
Persona: She is well educated and very capable in the political and business arenas. However, she often comes across as too abrasive because she is so concerned about being taken seriously.
Mon Ami (Dupree, Devon Jan) (cast choice: Pierce Brosnan with lighter hair)
Physical: Brown curly hair and sparkling brown eyes. Roguishly handsome with a smile that breaks hearts everywhere he goes. Has a charisma to beat all - even men have a hard time not liking him. His hair is just a little unkempt and his clothes are simple but sexy. (note: His pistols were hand made in Italy - they look like antique Italian dueling pistols.)
Persona: Clever and witty with a sly sense of humor. Revels in the fact that women love him. Does his job well, but enjoys the trickery in it more so than the kill.
Nakata, Yoichi (cast choice: Jet Li)
Physical: Japanese (black hair, black eyes). Wears hair in a ponytail and is bald elsewhere on his head. He wears oddly shaped glasses that make him stand out in a crowd (as if his hair wasn't enough).
Persona: Originally from Japan, but moved to the Valley in California when he was just a toddler. He speaks with a much different accent (a Valley accent) than one would think just by looking at him. He's extremely intelligent, but often doesn't act so.
Nemesis (a.k.a. Marcus Flayre) (cast choice: Tyson Bedford)
Physical: The perfect physical specimen. Nemesis appears as the epitome of manhood. Young, tall and handsome with a sculpted body, Marcus is every school girl's dream and the athletic inspiration of every young man. His body is completely hairless, the only outward sign of any abnormality. His ethnic descent is Egyptian.
Persona: He is driven by his own desire for athletic advancement. His physique and athletic ability is not the result of any mystical effect or immortality, but simply of constantly pushing himself to reach new peaks of physical performance. Although he is best known for his role as the wide receiver for the Austin Brahmas and as the center for the Huntington Paladins, Marcus Flayre can perform at Olympic level on any physical activity he chooses.
He is a definite superstar and projects himself as such. He is charismatic, very confident (perhaps just a little cocky), but loves his position as a children's role model and spends a great deal of time promoting himself for the sake of children's charities.
Osiris, Seth (cast choice: Sean Connery)
Physical: Osiris is replete with class and dignity. He wears the very best clothes, drinks the best wines. Everything about him and everything that he does is done with the utmost expense, style, and class. He has white hair that is not real short (ie, not quite shoulder length and thick) but is very well groomed. He has a full white moustache. He smiles often, but the smile is so knowing that it is almost insulting. He sits in a very contemplative posture, like Mr. Spock might with fingertips together. He walks with a cane because his left hip was partially crushed during the Shadow Guild's raid on his home nearly 500 years ago. The cane should be very distinctive in some way.
Persona: Possessing a vast intelligence and wisdom gained from over 10,000 years on our planet, Seth Osiris is the major foil of The Paragons.
Osiris is thoughtful, insightful, and philosophical. Though his methods are in great dispute, he is able to discuss those methods and his goals with great wisdom and logic. His basic personality is one of benevolence as well as an underlying factor of guilt. He can, however, be quite ruthless.
Rain (Lao, Lin) (formerly Vex) (cast choice: Lucy Liu)
Physical: A Cambodian woman with a page boy haircut and a thin, rather unimpressive physique. Vex carries herself in a way that makes her appear detached from those around her as if she is studying them and needs a microscope. Her costume displays the Amulet of Water prominently. Often her entire body will appear to be coated with a thin cascading sheen of water. Likewise, the interior of her eyes and sometimes even her mouth is full of bubbling, seething water. Her costume shows an obvious connection to water.
Persona: Vex is extremely brilliant - a master of many languages and scientific disciplines. She is as detached from the world around her as her body language would make her appear. She rarely speaks unless she has something relevant and vital to say, preferring instead to observe how others react to situations.
Scarab (a.k.a. Raab-Abdul, Ahma) (cast choice: Louis Gossett, Jr.)
Physical: A muscular black man of imposing physique with a bald head and a thin, wiry moustache that cuts in a sharp angle part way past his lips before extending below his jawline (rather like an insect's mandibles), Scarab has a rather beetle-like appearance. He wears a suit of armor that is dark with a scarab design upon it in some way and has a vague beetle-like look. It must be noted, however, that Scarab is truly not a healthy man and nearly all of his physical prowess are the result of his ability to manipulate the body's various systems. Scarab is actually suffering from Parkinson's Disease, with all of the repercussions of this disorder. If under extreme stress or if he extends his powers too far, Scarab may loose control of his physical ability.
Persona: Scarab is embittered over his condition and unhappy past. He is angry and ruthless and can take his anger out on others with great cruelty and violence. He only feels a sense of self-worth by belittling, intimidating, and hurting others.
Widowmaker (Graves, Morgan Wade) (cast choice: Sam Elliott in Roadhouse)
Physical: Widowmaker is 6'5" of power, cunning and death. Despite his age, his level of physical ability puts him on par with Nemesis, Olympic level athletes, and even super-powered beings. He wears black leather that covers most of his body from head to toe. His look has a somewhat south-western biker/cowboy motif that is particularly enhanced by the fact that Widowmaker always wears a set of spurs on his boots. (He has alluded to the fact that he has a reason for wearing these spurs although they are combat liability, but he has not been specific on this.) He carries a mare's leg (a sawed off 8 gauge shotgun with a pistol stock grip) on his back, along with more traditional firearms, knives, etc. His hair is salt & pepper, but mostly grey and comes just past his shoulders. It is slightly wavy (just a little wild) and all one length and he has a habit of running his hands through it. His moustache drops sharply down along either side of his lips and extends slightly below his jaw line before running back up his jaw line to connect to his sideburns, leaving his chin bare. His eyes are so pale that they often appear white, giving him an extremely ominous appearance. This effect is added to by the long scar running vertically from just above Widowmaker's right eye and continuing down onto his cheek. He drives a custom Harley-Davidson and chain smokes Marlboro cigarettes.
Persona: Morgan Wade Graves is arguably the most dangerous man alive. Everyone gives him a wide berth, no matter their level of personal skill or self-confidence. He says little, but when he speaks the entire room stops to listen. He is complete business although he has his own forms of recreation, all of which he does in private. This includes contemplation while having a cigarette and a bottle of Jack Daniels, playing pool, riding his Harley across the desert, and training with intensity at a level that would put any other person in the world to shame. He is not without his own personal demons, but he shares these with no one. However, small signs of this are sometimes apparent, such as his sometimes obsessive need for privacy, difficulty in forming meaningful relationships, the anger with which he explodes into action, his fascination with young women, and his strange preoccupation with his spurs.
Wildmoon (Krayson, Ilsa) (cast choice: Claire Danes)
Physical: Wildmoon is very slender and short. Her hair is short and white-blonde. Her eyes are a pale blue (she almost appears albino) that always look intensely sad. She has a face which would automatically make someone want to give her love because she always looks sad and scared at the same time. Her demure personality makes her sometimes appear even smaller than she is. She wears clothes that leave a lot of skin bare, because she is more comfortable this way, being used to a much, much colder climate.
Persona: Shy and unassuming, Wildmoon is intensely disturbed, and it shows. Her father abused her mother and eventually killed her, but still kept custody of Ilsa. He continued to be abusive to her (not sexually, but very dominating). She is shy in general but is very intimidated by men. However, she searches for male father figures to dominate her, thus her relationship with Scarab. She has gone from one bad situation to another.

RHI: WHY SO QUIET, MARK?

Frame 1
This is a double page scene that shows the nightclub, Styx, in it=s entirety. Although a worm=s-eye view would convey the grandeur of it best, either a bird=s-eye view or a panoramic shot should be used to include the crowd in the scene. Styx has a very unique design, something that would set it easily apart from all other structures. It is bright and new-age with a Grecian design very apparent. The Infinity symbol is prominently displayed somewhere within the architectural design. It is a two-story structure with a skylight (which may or may not be discernable in the shot depending on the angle).
If the crowd can be distinguished it should also be noted that The Breed are currently in the crowd in civilian disguise. They may or may not be discernable in this scene. They are dressed as the other partiers to allow entrance to Styx without drawing attention. The crowd is composed mostly of those wishing to enter, as well as reporters, cameramen, paparazzi, and some bystanders. There are also several policemen here to ensure order for the event.
This frame also contains the title and credits. The title, AGrand Opening@, is displayed on the page as the banner on the front of the club.

His head is tipped into the air to express a cold regard of those before him, as a scientist might examine his lab rats. Yet a cryptic smile is on his face, as if a plan is coming to fruition.

This is a two page spread that shows the interior of Styx. It is very impressive, a unique mix of ultra-chic brilliance and classic Grecian style. There are two short staff-like weapons (2-2 2 feet in length) that are crossed on one part of the wall. This does not need to be an obvious feature in any way but it does come in to play later (see Page 11). The club is two stories tall with the second floor being a balconied level. Every element is unique, from the chairs and tables to the glasses. Again, the infinity symbol is a recognizable part of the design. It may be incorporated into the design of the skylight, for example. The other central part of this frame=s layout is Karen D=Orrsman, the hostess of Styx.
She is dressed formally but extremely chic, with a lot of gold Grecian jewelry. The other frames on this page are all smaller, off-set frames that show various people at the party as they converse. These frames spread over pages 6 and 7.

A reporter or two can be seen with their cameraperson. Mark and Rhiannon are dancing together. Mark is a little stiff but Rhiannon moves very gracefully. Shane and Kiki can be seen next to them. Kiki, of course, is an excellent dancer. She and Shane=s dancing is obviously much more physical and sexual in nature than Mark and Rhi=s.

Janus has one hand carefully placed at her waist, but this alone seems to restrain her.

Mark is amazed at a door in front of him. It is circular and made of a silver metal with strange symbols on it and a few small, rounded protrusions but no discernable door knob. The door should hold the reader=s attention.

Alias and Mon Ami have followed Mark and Rhiannon. They are now blocking their only means of retreat. Mon Ami is standing solidly but non-threateningly. Alias is more menacing and has his weapon drawn. Rhiannon has assumed a defensive martial arts posture. Her stance is perfect and graceful. She shows no fear at all. Mark is more bewildered and afraid.
RHI: I DON=T WANT TO HURT YOU. WE JUST WANT TO LEAVE.
MON AMI: YOUNG LADY...BUDDY...NO NEED FOR VIOLENCE. LET=S ALL JUST RETURN TO THE MAIN ROOM, OUI?

Rhiannon is reaching towards Alias as if she is pulling something from inside of him, even though they are several feet apart. There is in fact something streaming out of Alias=s chest, a strange vapor-like substance in which a partial face can already be seen. It is as if a teenage boy is flowing out of Alias=s body. Alias is shocked at what is happening to him.

Alias is staring in disbelief at a translucent teenage boy that stands before him. The boy looks off into thin air as if seeing someone before him. The boy is wearing simple clothes with a strong African theme. The boy is very distraught as he engages in conversation with a person only he seems to see.
BOY: BUT, KOMEESHA, I AM NOT LIKE THOSE BRITISH DOGS! I WAS BORN AS BLACK AS YOU. YOU KNOW THIS! I AM NOT WHITE! PLEASE, KOMEESHA, PLEASE!

Jarred shows signs that they have been physically abused at the hands of The Breed. Near the crowd is Ion and Banzai. Banzai is restraining Alexandra Lucero as she struggles. Ion is threatening Alexander Lucero.

Banzai has apparently recovered and is in the general proximity of Scarab and Wildmoon. Barron is standing a few feet from Scarab. Ember uses her powers to create a ring of fire around Wildmoon, Scarab, Barron, and Banzai. Barron does not appear surprised by the flames nor affected by them.
EMBER: THERE, BARRON. I DON=T WANT THEM TO RUN AWAY AND SPOIL YOUR FUN.
BANZAI: EEE-HEE! IF IT=S FUN, YOU=RE LOOKIN= FOR, SWEET POTATO, BANZAI=S GOT YOUR TICKET TO RIDE!
Frame 2
Banzai leaps through the fire ring. Even though his clothes are on fire, he pays it no mind. Scarab is now turning his attention towards Ember from within the fire ring. He is causing a stroke in Ember, overwhelming her. She is grabbing her left arm and is wracked with pain.
SCARAB: STOP PLAYING AROUND, BANZAI! I WON=T TELL YOU AGAIN. EMBER WON=T BE ABLE TO PLAY WITH YOU AFTER SHE SUFFERS CARDIAC ARREST.
EMBER: HKK! HKK! HKK!
Frame 3
In the background, Barron can be seen fighting Scarab hand-to-hand. Scarab can be seen hitting Barron across the temple, drawing blood. (This is of minor importance on Page 19.) Ion and Banzai have turned their attention in the foreground to Canyon. Ion is being struck by a torrent of water from the recovering Rain.

Ion has collapsed breathless to the floor. Scarab is being struck down by Barron in the background. In the foreground, Canyon creates a rocky cocoon around Banzai that completely envelopes him except for his mouth, to allow breathing.

In the back hallway, Mark and Rhiannon continue to fight Mon Ami and Alias. Mark is paired off against Alias. Alias uses a boxing-type fighting style while Mark is clearly not accomplished in the pugilistic arts. Both Mon Ami and Rhiannon are using martial arts. Mon Ami=s is a savate style art using a lot of kicks. Rhiannon=s fighting style is incredibly graceful and fluid, a mix of kung-fu and ju-jitsu with techniques from other elements included. This frame focuses more on Mark and Alias. Mark is trying to hit Alias but misses.
ALIAS: FROM YOUR CLOTHES I TAKE IT THAT YOU WORK FOR THAT DOG, JANUS. FOR HIS SAKE, I HOPE YOU ARE NOT HIS PERSONAL SECURITY.

Mon Ami is suddenly struck from the side by a large shadowy figure. The features are not entirely distinct to the reader. However, the assailant is Widowmaker. Rhiannon does not see him yet.

Alias is circling around Widowmaker, who is still not entirely visible in the frame (perhaps only an arm or leg). Mark lies unconscious in the foreground and Alias is now moved between Mon Ami and Widowmaker. Alias is drawing his weapon. Rhiannon is trying to recover herself in the background.

This is a close-up of Alias as he is struck from behind. A careful inspection will reveal to the reader that the bludgeoning weapon is Mon Ami=s Italian style dueling pistol. It is Mon Ami that has struck Alias, even though only the pistol and Mon Ami=s hand is visible in the panel.

This is a close-up of Rhiannon. Widowmaker can be seen disappearing into the shadows in the background past Mark, who is just now rising from the floor. Rhiannon is left trembling and struck completely immobile with fear. She is in the exact same position as the frame above. No caption.

Mr. Barron and Mr. Keith have exited the elevator on the 90th floor. The scene from the elevator is visible, showing the huge expanse of luxury that is the top floor. The architecture here clearly has strong Egyptian designs but there are also items and design elements from many different time periods, including Ancient Rome and Renaissance France as well as others. The two men are being approached by one of the Cole sisters (actually Kimber).

This is the establishing shot of Osiris=s office. There is a conference table with 14 chairs as well as plush couches and chairs and other items to give it a luxuriant decor in contrast to the conference table. There is a table with a plate of fruits and a bottle of wine on a table near the chairs and couch.
Inside are The Veil, the remaining Cole sisters, Mr. Nakata, and Seth Osiris himself. The Veil (except for Widowmaker) are standing together inside looking at the door. The Cole sisters are sitting at the conference table. Mr. Nakata is standing near Mr. Osiris=s desk with his clipboard. Widowmaker can not be seen in this shot. Seth Osiris sits at his desk facing the door. His desk chair is overly high-backed, more like a throne than a chair.

Frame 1
This is a medium shot of Osiris. The emphasis is on him so that the reader can get a good look at him. He is thoughtful looking but his raised eyebrows and hands, held fingertip to fingertip, suggest that he is concerned. The Veil, minus Widowmaker, can be seen in this shot as well as Mr. Nakata.
OSIRIS: I SEE FROM THIS MORNING=S NEWSCAST THAT LAST NIGHT HAS BECOME A MEDIA SUCCESS.
BARRON: YES SIR. THERE HAVE BEEN FEW OUTSPOKEN CRITICS OF THE VEIL AS PROTECTORS OF THIS CITY. MOST ACTUALLY APPROVE OF SUCH VIGILANTE JUSTICE. EVEN THE POLICE HAVE MADE NO OFFICIAL PROTESTS.

Canyon is addressing Osiris respectfully. Ember and Rain have more disdain in their expressions.

Widowmaker is seen for the first time, being previously hidden from view by the frame angle. He is reclining on the couch, feet crossed at the ankles, smoking a Marlboro cigarette and drinking from a shot glass. A bottle of Jack Daniels sits on the table in front of the couch. His expression is difficult to interpret but it is intimidating nonetheless.

OSIRIS: ALLOW ME TO MAKE THIS CLEAR. THE VEIL IS ALIVE ONLY BECAUSE I OFFERED MY PROTECTION TO YOU. YOU WOULD BE DEAD TODAY IF NOT FOR ME. I HELPED YOU DESPITE WHAT YOU DID TO MY DAUGHTERS AT MARSEILLE. I WANT NO CONFLICT OF INTEREST HERE.
BARRON: THERE IS NO CONFLICT, SIR. WE ARE ALL GRATEFUL FOR YOUR PROTECTION, AREN=T WE COMRADES?
