When I was about 20 years old I had a vision of the virgin mary.
I was
sitting at home, not on drugs or anything, when she suddenly
appeared
in the room. She was standing there with her arms
out stretched slightly
and looked just like she would in a religious
picture or statue. She was
radiating light too. A wonderful feeling
of peace came over me, and I could
feel this infinite love
radiating from her. It was the most wonderful
experience I ever had, on or off drugs.
After a while she faded away,
but I had lost all sense of time
so I'm not quite sure how long I saw her
for. It was probably
only a few minutes.
I do not consider myself to be a Christian ,
so this vision has troubled
me a lot. I can't figure out its
meaning. I was browsing through a medieval
christian mystical
text in a bookshop only a few weeks ago and I came across
what sounds
like a good answer. It said that Mary and the other holy beings
appear to us out of love, because they want to show us
how much love they
have for us humans. This is
the best answer I have come across so far.
