Leslie caught up with Nick that afternoon. He was just where she thought he would be. She found him sitting underneath the tree where he he had proposed. Nick was looking out across the water as Leslie came up behind him, “There you are.” She said. Nick looked down and didn’t say a word. Leslie cleared her throat, “Nick, I know you weren’t happy with the decision that I made, but…” Nick cut her off as he jusmped up and stared her in the eye. She could see that he had been crying. Leslie wiped a tear from his cheek.
Nick grabbed her hand, “Leslie I’m not mad at you..I was just…you have no idea how worried I was. When I saw you in that car…I thought…well I didn’t know what was gonna happen. I have never been so scared in my life. I mean, you and I…I love you..and I couldn’t live knowing that I wouldn’t have you there with me. I need you…I live you Leslie, I love you so much..I was so scared….” Leslie hugged Nick tight as his words trailed off into tears. He was shaking. She had never seen him like this. Leslie had been terrified as well, but Nick was just….well, he loved her all right.
The next day…
Leslie went to the doctor that afternoon. She thought she was pregnant and wanted to find out for sure, and if she was, after everything that had happened…she wanted to make sure the baby was ok. She went took the test and had an examination by the doctor. She went to Nick’s later that afternoon, but she hadn’t planned on telling him where she had been. When she got there though , she didn’t even see Nick. She called for him several times, but he was no where to be found. She paged him and went to watch tv while she waited on him to call. After a few minutes though, he walked through the door. “Hey baby I just paged you, where have you been?” Nick through his keys on the table and went to sit with Leslie.
He kissed her on the cheek, “ I was at AJ’s.” Leslie’s eyes widened.
“Nick! You didn’t…” He cut her off with another kiss.
“No, I didn’t do anything. We just talked, talked a lot actually. He explained everything to me. He’s going to start seeing a counsler also, I made him promise me that. Things are never gonna be the same with us, but this is as good as it’s gonna get right now.” Leslie was relieved. As bad as things were already, she hated to see the group, and their fame crumble because of her. The media had already started bugging them about what happened. Wild rumors were flying. Leslie and the guys all decided that the best thing would be for her to deny everything. And so they would just see what happened from here…
Meanwhile at AJ’s
“Yo AJ that was close man…how the hell did you get caught man? We had this planned out perfect. Why the hell were you still at Nick’s when we got there? You should have been long gone.”
“Yeah well Kev if you had stalled him longer, I would have been fine.”
“Ok…well then why did you get Leslie there? Man…you were supposed to go to her house…when she was alone…that was just stupid what you did.”
“Well I panicked okay..kiss my ass…just be glad that I didn’t rat you out man…you are just as much a part of this as I am. You’re the one that wanted her in the first place, remember?”
“Oh like you didn’t…you’ve had a crush on her for years AJ…you know it. And nothing pissed you off more than seeing her with Nick.”
“Well either way, things got outta hand. Kev, man, if anyone ever finds out the whole plan…man we’re screwed. Speaking of the plan…what did you do with that letter that I sent you a while back?”
“Oh, it’s right here, I stuck it in my jacket…..” Kevin looked around for the jacket…it wasn’t anywhere around…
Back at Nick’s house:
Nick and Leslie headed out to get some lunch. As they got into the Durango, Leslie noticed a jacket laying across ger seat, “Whose jacket?”
Nick looked at it, “ Oh that’s Kevin’s, just toss it in the back.” Leslie threw it back…and a small piece of paper flew out and fell into the back floor board…
