Cid's FFA Opinion/Review

Well now, on October 6th, most retailers across the nation received Final Fantasy Anthology. I know that's when mine did, but it could be different in other parts of the country. Well anyway, the cost of the game was $45 dollars, and it included 2 of the Square Classics, Final Fantasy 5(Previously Unreleased in the US) and Final Fantasy 6(Released as Final Fantasy 3 on the Super Nintendo Console in 1994). Also packaged with the game was a special Soundtrack CD, which included 22 Tracks from the 2 Games. I'll tell you my impressions of the game:

Final Fantasy 5

Not ever released in the US, I was greatly looking forward to this game. And what I saw was spectacular. The opening FMV was great, and I'm sure the closing FMV will be also. However, having a SNES game converted to CD format, I was expecting some long delays in the game. There is some wait time to access the menu, but besides that, the game runs very smoothly. Also, Square has added some nice battle openers to these games. In FF5, the game fades away in a circular motion, somewhat similar to FF7. I won't give away any of the plot, you'll need to play this one yourself!

Final Fantasy 6

I've played this one, beat it several times, I knew what to expect, but playing it on the Playstation did seem nice. However, I was sorta dissapointed playing this one. This one has VERY bad delays. The battle sequence is very slow and choppy, etc... However, after playing it for a while, you get used to it, and you go on playing the game. The opening FMV was spectacular(Kefka looks so freaky!) and besides that, the game is very good. If you've never played FF6 before, you'll be satisfied with this one.

The Soundtrack

It is my opinion that Square EA LLC pacakaged this Soundtrack to make up for the exculsion of Final Fantasy 4. I wish they would have just translated FF4, and left the soundtrack out! But they didn't, and It's ok(I have my SNES copy). Anyway, the soundtrack includes 22 tracks from FF5 and FF6, most of them being from FF6. However, many of the best tracks were left out! NO CHARACTER THEMES AT ALL! C'mon, some of the best tracks are character themes! Gilgamesh, Cyan, Locke....why???? I don't know, but what is on the CD is pretty good. Listen to it for yourself and find out.

Well that's all I have to say. Want to talk to me about it? Or ask me any of your Final Fantasy Questions? E-mail me at DiasFlac543@aol.com
