I learned many things about myself and about my family through this project. This project has helped me understand where my parents and grandparents come from, and why they do some of the things they do. I know that even though they lived their youth a while ago, that they still went through some of the same things I now face growing up. This project also helped me to understand how come my family is so spread out, and how come we really can't talk to all of these people I always hear in stories my parents tell.
I believe this project was beneficial to me because it brought me closer to my family, and my history. I was able to talk and share experiences and stories with both my parents and grandparents. It gave me time to sit down and talk with them that I wouldn't normally do on a regular basis. I learned that even though my family doesn't have much "folklore" that has been passed down, we do have memories of people, times, places, and of life. And I believe those are just as important, if not more so, than folklore.
