What is it that this world offer
The joy of accomplishment, much toil and strife
A wealth of knowledge, gold coins in the coffer
Hope twinkling in a babe’s eye, love ‘tween
a man and wife
Times cruel hand, the jokers pun
A cracked mirror warping true smile
Unstoppable as the river’s ocean run
The walk of the long green mile
Humor and perseverance a saving grace
Death’s gentle kiss a platinum hand
Satin touch that bids fade the shining face
Into the ever sleep in an unseen land
Flesh stripped from bitter bone
Ending as it started, I alone.
