Chapter 1
"Hey Nick, me and A.J. are going out to that new club tonight, do you want to come?" asked Brian.
"Sure," said Nick.
Nick, Brian and A.J were hanging out at their apartment. They had been playing basketball for over an hour.
After each of the guys washed up and changed, they piled into Brian's jeep and headed for the club, Club Millenium.
When they got there, there was a long line. Brian new the guy who owned the club, so he went around the back.
"Hey Chris," said Brian to the guy at the back door.
"Hey B-Rok sup?" said Chris.
"Not much," said Brian. "You know already know A.J. This is Nick."
"Hey Nick, I'm Chris."
"Nice to meet you," said Nick.
The guys went inside. It wasn't quite 9:00 yet but it was already crowded. They went and sat at the bar.
"Look at her," said A.J. He pointed towards a girl sitting at a table alone. "I'm gonna go talk to her."
"Later," said Brian.
"C-ya," said A.J.
A.J studied the girl from afar before going up to her. Her blue dress matched perfectly with her dark, sholder length brown hair. He walked over to the table.
"Mind if I sit down?" he asked.
She looked up, as if she was startled. "Oh, sure."
"I'm A.J. What's your name?"
"Miki."
"That's an unusual, yet sweet name," he said.
"Thanks."
He looked into her small brown eyes. They were beautiful. "Would you care to dance?"
"Of course," she said.
They stood up and A.J. escorted her out to the dance floor. When a slow song came on he pulled her close. 'She's a great dancer,' he though. 'And she smells so sweet.'
When the song was over, I'll Never Break your heart came on. When A.J. started singing along Miki realized who he was.
"Your..." she started.
He shook his head and kept singing. After the song was over he kissed her on the cheek.
"That was so sweet," she said. "You have the greatest voice."
"Thanks." he said. "Do you want something to drink?"
"Sure, that would be great."
She sat down and he brought her a drink.
"So, your a Backstreet Boy?" she said.
"Yeah. I'm here with Nick and Brian. There around here somewhere."
"I have a little sister who is totally obsessed with you guys. I can't believe I didn't recognize you at first. I mean, your face is all over her wall."
A.J. blushed slightly, but Miki didn't notice.
"How old are you?" he asked.
"18," she said.
"Do you go to school?" he asked.
"I graduated from high school last summer. I'm planning on going to college next fall."
"Where at?"
"I want to go to UNC, but I don't want to move that far away from my family, so I'm probably going to go to FSU."
"That's cool."
They sat and talked for a while, then they got up and danced some more.
"Looks like A.J.'s found someone he likes," said Nick.
When Brian didn't answer Nick turned and looked at Brian. He was staring ahead. Nick snapped his fingers in front of his face. Brian jumped.
"Huh, what?" asked Brian.
"You looked like you were in space," said Nick.
"Oh."
"What's up?"
"I'll be back."
Nick watched Brian get up and walk over to a table where a girl was sitting alone. She was wearing a black dress with her long brown hair loose over her sholders. 'Wow,' was all Nick could think.
"Hi," said Brian as he sat down.
"Hi," she said cheerfully.
"I'm Brian, and you are?"
"Elyse, Elyse Burton."
"I'm Brian Littrell."
"Nice to meet you Brian." she said.
"Nice to meet you too. Would you care to dance?"
"It would be a pleasure," said Elyse.
Brian took her hand and led her to the middle of the floor. A slow song was playing so Brian pulled her close to him. She was so tender... so... he couldn't even find the words to fit her. She smelled distinctly of CK1. That was his favorite scent on a girl.
Nick watched Brian dancing with the girl from across the room. No wonder Brian had looked like he was on another planet. That girl was beautiful. If only he had seen her first, he would be the one dancing with her.
While he was still watching Brian, a girl came up and sat next to Nick.
"Hi, I'm Tara," she said.
Nick, startled, turned to her. "Hi."
"Nick Carter, right?"
"Yeah."
"I thought that was you. Do you come here often?"
"No, this is the first time I've been here," said Nick.
"Same here. Do you want to dance?"
"Sure."
They went out to opposite side of the dance floor where Brian was dancing. Nick studied Tara. She was kind of tall and she had shoulder length blond hair. The whole time Nick was dancing with Tara he was thinking about the girl Brian was with.
When they left, they had each gotten the girls phone numbers. Brian and Nick had to practically drag A.J. away from the club.
"You guys, I just met the most awesome girl," said A.J. as they climbed into Brian's jeep.
"I found a girl too," said Brian. "Her name's Elyse. What about you Frack?"
'Elyse,' thought Nick.
"Hey Frack!" said A.J. loudly.
Nick jumped. "Huh, oh yeah, I met a girl."
"Cool," said A.J.
They rode the rest of the way back to the apartment without talking.
The next day A.J. left to go meet Miki for lunch and a movie. Brian had invited Elyse over.
Nick heard a knock on the door. He got up and answered it.
'There she was, Elyse,' he thought.
"Hi, is Brian here?" she asked.
"Yeah, I'll get him." Nick took a step inside the apartment. "Brian!" He turned back to Elyse. "Come on in."
Brian came in the room. "Hey Elyse."
"Hey Brian," she said.
"Nick this is Elyse, Elyse, this is Nick."
"Nice to meet you," she said.
"Nice to meet you too," said Nick.
"Do you two want to play some basketball?" asked Brian.
"Sure," said Elyse. "Except these aren't exactly basketball playing clothes."
"You can borrow a pair of shorts and a t-shirt," said Brian.
"Okay."
Elyse followed Brian to his room. Brian pulled out a pair of shorts and a small Nike t-shirt. "Here, I think these will fit you," he said.
"Thanks." She went in the bathroom and changed into the clothes. When she came out they picked up the basketball and went outside. They played 2 on one, Brian and Elyse vs. Nick. Of course Nick lost, but they still had a fun time playing.
"Hey, I have a better Idea. Lets play knockout," said Nick.
"How do you play that?" asked Elyse.
"The first two people in the line each have a ball," explained Nick. He ran and picked up another basketball. "And the first person shoots. If they make it they go to the back of the line, and the next person shoots."
"But if they miss it the other person shoots and tries to make it in before they do," said Brian.
"And if the second person makes it in before the first then the first person is out," finnished up Nick.
"Got it?" asked Brian.
"Umm, I think so," said Elyse.
"Don't worry, you'll catch on quick. Its not hard," said Brian.
They played knockout for a while then they went inside for a drink.
"That was fun," said Elyse.
"You've got a pretty good shot," said Nick, who'd lost a couple of games of knockout to her.
"Thanks," she said.
Brian and Elyse went back outside alone and sat down on the front steps.
"Elyse, I... I really like you," said Brian. "You mean a lot to me."
"Your so sweet. I like you too Brian."
They stood up. Brian held her around the waist and kissed her. He parted her lips with his tounge and explored every part of her mouth while her's did the same. When they were finnished, Brian looked into her eyes and said, "I love you."
Elyse smiled. "I love you too."
