JC's Story
Chapter 5
"You have such a pretty smile," Sam said, softly. JC's eyes
widened and he felt his face turn a lovely shade of pink. She smiled
when she saw this, "I still have no idea who you are, but there's
something about you," Sam said, softly," Something I like." JC felt his
heart melt at those words. He was seeing a happier version of Sam. A
version of her that didn't remember her past. He silently wished, that
she would regain her memory, but forget all about the unhappy memories
including her father's death, the molesting, her mother being beat by
her step father, and being raped. "What are you thinking about JC?" she
asked him, curiously.
He smiled at her,"Oh, just a few things that are on my
mind. Nothing important. You should go to sleep, Sam." He stood up and
pulled the covers up to her neck. "Sleep tight."
She looked up at him
and nodded her head,"Okay, I'll try. Thanks for trying to help me
figure
out everything. Hopefully, I'll remember everything soon." JC tried to
smile, but honestly hoped she wouldn't. He turned off the lights in the
room and sat down in his recliner. He closed his eyes and drifted off
to
a sweet dream where he and Samantha were together.
He woke up to hear her crying. JC shot out of his recliner
and over to the bed, "Sam, Sam....wake up," he whispered. She opened
her
eyes,"I had the worst dream," she cried out. JC sat down on the bed and
cradled her in his arms. "Tell me about it."
"I was younger and there was this man and he kept on
hurting me. Then, all of sudden I was older and there was this other
man
and he did something to me that I can't really remember. I think he
raped me. It was so awful, I hate nightmares."
JC closed his eyes and
tried to breathe. "It's just a dream, it's just a dream," he softly
whispered to her.
Sam continued to cry into his shoulder, not knowing
that this dream was trying to make her remember the past.
They woke up at 9 a.m. JC was surprised to see Sam
laying on him. He smiled and nudged her awake. She was about to say
something to him, when Joey came running into the room, "Hi guys!!" he
cleared his throat and started to say something, when he saw the two of
them laying together. He smiled and said,"We have something for you."
Justin and Lance walked in each carrying a tray of food.
"Here you go madam," Justin said, jokingly, as he
handed the tray to Sam. She laughed. Lance handed his tray to JC.
Chris walked into the room and began laughing when he saw everyone,"So,
are you two getting it one, when we're not around? " JC's face
turned
beet red. He glared at Chris. "Hey! Don't give me that look! I helped
make the breakfast!"
Later that day, Justin and Joey went back to the
club.
They walked over to the snack bar, where an old woman was cleaning up
some tables. "Excuse me m'am? Do you know Samantha?" Justin asked,
politely.
"Samantha Gables? Why yes I do. Do you know where
she is? She's suppossed to be working right now," the woman said,
rubbing her hands on her apron.
"I'm sorry, that she's not here right now. She
was in a minor accident. We need to know where she lives, so we can
take
her home," Joey said.
"An accident? Oh dear, of course I'll tell you
where she lives." The woman gave directions to the guys. They thanked
her and went back to JC's house. Justin ran up to the room and barged
right in. Sam and JC looked up, sitting together on the bed, talking.
"Excuse me," Justin said, "But, we found out where you live."
He
expected Sam to be happy, but her face fell,"Oh I guess that means I
have to go home now, right?" Justin nodded his head, while JC shook
his
head, no. They looked at each other. "JC...um, she needs to get home."
"No, she should rest here a while, then go
home."
"Her mom is probably worried sick about her,
so
she should get home." Justin said, glaring at him. JC sighed and stood
up. Sam slowly stood up, too, "Thanks for your help," she whispered to
him. He smiled at her and they stood staring at each other, until Sam
threw her arms around him. JC pulled her closer to him. They stood that
way together for a while, until Sam pulled away. "I should go." She
turned to walk away, but stumbled.
JC reached out his hand,"Here, let
me
help you." They walked out of the room together, with Justin following.
The door bell rang. Sam rushed downstairs to answer it.
"JC!!!" she cried, opening it. He smiled and pulled her into his arms.
It was a month later and Sam still had no memory of her past. Her
mother
and she hoped that one day she would remember everything. and JC
"I missed you," JC whispered, into her hair. (They were now
officially a "couple.") Sam smiled and kissed him on the lips. "I
missed
you too. How was your trip? I'm still waiting for you to tell me what
these business trips are all about." JC paused, he and the guys had
decided not to tell Sam that they were 'N Sync. "Nothing important,
baby."
Her face fell,"Will you ever tell me?" JC DID want to tell her
badly, but he feared it would change everything. "Yes, I will. I
promise." He noticed that she was still looking a little frustrated by
this, "Y'know I never break my promises. So you will find out, just not
now, not here." He changed the subject,"How's the ol' brain holding up?
Remembering anything?"
"No," Sam said, softly. She began walking to the living room.
"It's not fair, though. I want to remember my childhood, I want to
remember growing up, everything. It's just all a big fog right now." JC
spun her around, so she faced him,"Some day you will Sam. Give it
time."
She looked up at his beautiful face and nodded. Personally, he knew if
Sam did remember, she would soon wish she didn't.
