All I Have To Give
Chapter 5
Jessica woke up saturday morning with the sun shinning on her face. She had begun forget about her fathers death, although she didn't forget about him. She knew he would have wanted her to move on with her life, so she was going to do just that. They had held the funeral Friday. Nick had come to support her.
Without Nick she would have been a mess. He was a big help in the whole situation.
Nick was picking her up at noon. They were going to spend the day together. He didn't tell her what they were going to do though. She got dressed in a simple pair of jeans and a baby-t. Then she went downstairs to eat breakfast and wait for Nick. Mrs James came in the room.
"Are you going somewhere today?" she asked.
"Yeah, Nick is taking me somewhere. I'll probably be gone the whole day," said Jessica.
"Your taking everything awfully well."
"Dad wouldn't have wanted me to stay sad. You shouldn't either." "I guess your right. Be careful, and have fun."
"I will."
Mrs James went in the kitchen to make herself a cup of coffee. Jessica finnished her cereal and put the bowl in the sink. She looked at her watch. It was only 10:00. Nick wouldn't be there for two hours. She went upstairs and fixed her hair. Two hours later the doorbell rang. Jessica ran downstairs and answered the door.
"Hey, ready to go?" asked Nick.
"Yeah." she turned to the house. "Mom I'm leaving now!" Jessica and Nick went out to his car. "Where are we going?"
"Its a surprise," he said as he started up the car. After driving a couple of miles Nick pulled into a parking lot.
"An empty parking lot?" asked Jessica.
"No," said Nick. "Come on."
We went inside the building. Nick went to the man at the front desk and paid him. "I got the go cart place for and hour to ourselves."
"Cool, I love go carts," said Jessica.
The man turned on two go carts and lined them up on the starting line. Jessica and Nick got in one. When the start-stop light turned from red to green Nick and Jessica took off. They joked around and raced for the next hour. Then they left and got back in Nick's car.
"What do you want for lunch?" asked Nick.
"McDonalds is fine," said Jessica.
"Okay, that was going to be my choice." they got to McDonalds and went inside.
"Can I take your order?" asked a young girl at the register.
"Number 3, with a coke," said Jessica.
"Make that two," said Nick.
"Are you Nick Carter?" asked the girl when she looked at Nick.
"I don't know who your talking about," said Nick.
"Nevermind then," she said.
She gave them their food and they sat in a booth in the corner. Jessica laughed. "She looked like she was about to get mad."
"Well, I like to have a peaceful sit down meal everyonce in a while without having to sign a couple hundred autographs. You know A.J.'s gotten hurt a couple of times trying to get away from fans before."
"Really? How?"
"Well," Nick chuckled. "One time a bunch of girls chased us to our van. All of us got in except A.J. He was plastered against the side of the van. Then the driver backed up to try and get away from the fans and they ran over his foot."
"Ooh, I bet that hurt."
"Yeah, but he was okay."
"What other crazy stuff has happened to you guys?"
"Well, we've had fans come in our motel rooms and steal our boxer shorts and other clothes, like socks and stuff andd then some of them even ask us to sign them for them."
"Thats pretty funny."
"Yeah, but its kind of embarrassing for some girl to whip out your underwear and ask you to sign them. We got kicked out of a couple of motels in Europe bacuase the fans wouldn't go away."
"I think I read that in a magazine artical once. I didn't know if it was true or not," said Jessica.
Nick laughed. "One time we were leaving a mall appearance and the guards couldn't control the fans so we had to crawl out a window, and then jump into the van. One time I decided I would walk into the crowd and talk to some people and they started like tackling me, so I went to run up the stairs to get away from them and I slipped and sprained my hand."
"Oww," Jessica laughed.
"It was right before a concert, and I had to go onstage so some guy looked at it and put an ace bandage on it."
"That was all?"
"Yeah, well after the show I went to the doctor. I could barely feel it though. When I'm performing I don't really think about anything but making sure I'm doing the moves right and stuff."
Jessica and Nick finnished their food and got up to leave. Two girls sitting by the door stood up before we went to pass. "Your Nick Carter, aren't you?"
"Yeah," said Nick.
"Can we have your autograph?"
"Sure," said Nick, good naturdly.
She handed him two pieces of paper. He signed them both and gave them back. The girl from behind the counter saw him and gave him a dirty look. Nick ignored it and led Jessica out to the car.
"Did you see that girl behind the counter?" asked Nick.
"No, what did she do?"
"When he saw me give those two girls autographs she gave me this dirty look."
Jessica laughed. "I guess she's not a big fan of you guys."
"I guess not," said Nick. "A.J. invited us over to his house. He wants to meet you."
"How far away does he live."
"About 15 minutes away from here," said Nick.
They pulled up to a nice one story brick house on a dead end street. Jessica and Nick started to get out of the car, at the same time A.J. came out the door to meet us.
"Hey Chaos." he turned to Jessica. "I guess your Jessica."
"Yeah, and your A.J."
"Yep, nice to meet you." he shook Jessica's hand. "You two wanna play some b-ball?"
"Sure," said Jessica.
A.J. led the way through the house and out the back door. He picked up a basketball from next to the house.
"You and Jessica against me, I get first ball," said A.J.
A.J. drove the ball right past Nick and shot a lay-up.
"Good shot," said Nick. He took the ball and passed it to Jessica. She jumped and shot the ball before A.J. could move to block hher. It went right in without even touching the rim.
Nick slapped Jessica a high five. "Great shot."
"Thanks," she said.
"Maybe you should be on my team," said A.J.
"No way," joked Nick.
A.J., Nick and Jessica played until they were out of breath. "Come on in and get something to drink," said A.J. They followed A.J. inside to the kitchen. His mom, Mrs McLean was making lemonade. "Hey mom, this is Jessica, Nick's girlfriend."
"Nice to meet you," said Mrs McLean.
"Nice to meet you too," said Jessica.
"Are you guys thirsty?" she asked.
"Yeah," said Nick and A.J. at the same time. She got out 3 glasses and filled them with lemonade.
"Thanks," said Jessica.
"Your welcome," said Mrs McLean. "I take it you 3 were playing basketball."
"Yeah, and me and Jessica kicked A.J.'s butt," said Nick.
"Only cause I was outnumbered," grumbled A.J.
Mrs McLean laughed. "Well you three have fun, I'm going to the store."
"Bye," they all three said at the same time.
"Ready to go?" asked A.J.
"Go where?" asked Jessica.
"Oh, you didn't tell her?" asked A.J.
"Oh yeah, I forgot about that. We're going to go pick up Kevin and Brian at the airport," Nick explained.
"Oh," said Jessica.
"Well, lets go," said A.J. When they got outside A.J. said, "We should probably take two cars cause I don't think five of us can fit in my little car."
"Okay," we can take mine too," said Nick.
