About Our Congregation
Organized in 1972 as the first Unitarian Universalist congregation in Macon County, NC, the Fellowship initially met in people's homes. In 1982, the present Fellowship House (originally a private home) was purchased and has served as the Fellowship's home to this day. We are a lay-led congregation, offering numerous opportunities for everyone to participate fully in the life of the Fellowship.
Our Mission
We are committed to building a more compassionate and just world by nurturing an enlightened and caring community which respects diversity, defends human rights, and lives in harmony with the environment. On our journey, we shall support and encourage each other, adults and children alike, to grow responsibly independent and collectively interdependent through shared worship, fellowship, education, service and celebration.
Our Vision
To be a spiritual center for growth and learning, not only for adults, but equally for youth; build self-awareness, mindfulness of others and dedication to the world in which we live; be inspired by our interconnectedness and oneness with the universe; and generously serve and respond to the needs of our community according to our individual and collective abilities.
