Boone County Cliffs Nature Preserve Parking
At first glance this tiny, ill-kempt parking area calls to mind thoughts of 'Deliverance'...I persevered however and found out what beauty was waiting just up the hill and around the bend!
White Trout Lilly
The hills were just beginning to show green but even more so a sign of spring was the abundance of White Trout Lillies that covered the hillsides. These delicate, nodding flowers made a dramatic contrast to the starkness of the dead leaves they had pushed aside. From soil to flowerhead, the stems rose about 6 inches above the leaf litter.
Creek Beside the Trail
Another of my 'running water' shots. In the short time I went up the trail, took a few pictures and came back down, this little trickle had built up to a respectable torrent from the rain shower that blew in.
