Magic:
Heartstones:
- Like a node, only much more powerful. A stone, usually near the center of a clearing in the Vale, that serves as a meeting place for the ley lines in the area of the Vale. The energy flows in and is stored until the Tayledras can purify it.
Ley Lines and Nodes:
- Every thing in the world gives off energy. This energy trickles into ruts, just like the water from melting snow. It gathers with other energy given off and forms little streams, called ley lines, that can be drawn on by Masters for power. These ley lines meet in places, and just like when two rivers meet, they form a sort of lake, called nodes, which Adepts can draw on for power. Energy works very much like water when it's not being actively used.
Other Planes:
- There are quite a few other planes with some interesting creatures and elementals, and I'll list them when I get my Vows and Honor books back; they're on loan right now. One such elemental is the Vrondi; a very curious air elemental; Vanyel gave the Vrondi the job of watching any mage that came into Valdemar, which is why they all went nearly mad.
Mages and Their Levels:
Mages are the people who have the gift of being able to work with energies to perform magic. Most of them have Mage-sight, a Gift that allows them to see this energy, but a few do not.
- Mage:

Works only with energy within himself and the energy of things in his immediate surroundings.
- Master:

Works with the energy within himself, his surroundings, and ley lines.
- Adept:

Works with the energy within himself, his surroundings, ley lines, and nodes.
- Healing-Adept (a.k.a. Healer-Adept)::

Works with everything an Adept can and more, but also has a sort of earth-sense, which enables him to find the places where the earth is "sick" so the rest of the Tayledras can fix it.
The Pelagirs:
- The Pelagir Forest is a vast forest filled with wild magic. Sometimes the wild energy twists animals and plants, making them frightening or even dangerous. Of course, some of the races are harmless and perfectly friendly, but it cannot be assumed that a creature in the Pelagirs is what it appears to be. The Hawkbrothers have been charged by the Star-Eyed with "purifying" this magic and the creatures that have been warped by it.
Miscellaneous Magic Stuff:
- Truth Spell:

2 levels. The first makes someone unable to speak a lie, and the second forces a person to speak the truth.
- Gate (a.k.a. portal):

takes a tremendous amount of energy, and only Adepts and above can perform the spell. Takes a person from one place to another instantly.
- Need:

Possessed sword, full name Woman's Need. Need was once a woman who enchanted herself into a blade to help a young Sister of her order. Works only for women, except in some special circumstances. For more, read here.
