Two killed as large waves pound Calif.

SAN FRANCISCO - A huge storm that pounded the West Coast produced heavy surf that killed two people, damaged docks and flooded homes. One of those killed was a bride who was swept to sea by a 25-foot swell Thursday afternoon as she and her newlywed husband took photos. Her husband jumped in after her; both were plucked from the water 15 minutes later by rescuers. The husband survived but the woman was dead within minutes. A 20-year-old surfer was also killed in heavy surf near Santa Cruz. The large waves were part of a swirling storm up to 800 miles in diameter that sat off the California coast for a day before heading toward land. Some waves reached 40 feet in height in parts of Northern California, luring spectators to the shores.
