Dynix Manual

The information contained on this website is accurate for the current version of Dynix as implemented at a circulation terminal at PLCMC.  Dynix is not static, however, and information that is accurate one day can be outdated the next.  Consult the manual for full information about how to use Dynix.  Check with your circulation manager if you want to see a copy.

Dynix Commands

Think of Dynix as taking two kinds of basic commands: dot commands and menu commands.  Hit the return/enter key after typing these commands.

Dot Commands
A dot command is one that starts with a period, followed by one or two letters of the alphabet.  For the most part, dot commands are used to move from one type of screen to another.  So, for example, .C moves you from the CKI (check-in) screen to the CKO (check-out) screen, and back again.  .CB moves you from a patron's screen to their current blocks screen.  .Q moves you from a patron's screen back to the CKO screen.

Menu Commands
A menu command is one taken from a list of words displayed in a bright, horizontal, highlighted bar somewhere on the screen, usually at the bottom.  In the bar is a list (or menu) of words.  A menu command is activated by typing the first letter of one of the words from the list.  For the most part, menu commands don't move you from screen to screen, instead they change something about the screen you are already in.
