Charles H. AVERY


Charles H. AVERY was born on 10 Mar 1875 in Sampson County, NC (we believe). Charles was married twice - his first wife was Lou DUDLEY (my great-great grandmother) of Sampson County, NC. Charles and Lou had 5 children: David Pearl (b. 18 Jul 1900, in Clinton, Sampson County, NC); James W. (b. 31 Jul 1901; d. 6 Mar 1958); Sam Walter (b. 1897; d. 1951); Bessie; and Lizzy. After Lou's death, Charles married Ellen Jane P... (b. 5 Apr 1890 in Sampson County, NC; d. 22 Nov 1975). Charles died on 20 Oct 1940. Both Charles and Ellen are interred in Grifton Cemetery, Grifton (Pitt Co), NC.

David Pearl AVERY


My great grandfather, David Pearl was born on 18 Jul 1900 in Clinton, NC. He married Sophia Jane WALKER, daughter of John and Florence WALKER (b. 1 Dec 1905 in Kinston, Lenoir County, NC). David and Sophia had 5 children: Vivian Christine (b. 1 Dec 1923 in Kinston, NC; d. 11 Nov 1998 in Goldsboro, Wayne Co, NC); Doris A. (b. 7 Dec 1930; d. 31 Aug 1998 in Greenville, Pitt Co, NC); Marshall Odell (b. 23 Aug 1927; d. 25 Feb 1981 in Greenville, Pitt Co, NC); David Clarence (b. 7 Nov 1935; d. 2 Jun 1975 in Goldsboro, Wayne Co, NC); and Lester Carroll (b. Unk; d. Unk).

Vivian Christine AVERY


My grandmother - Vivian, was born 1 Dec 1923 in Kinston, Lenoir County, NC. She married Zeno Marvin STOCKS. For further information on their children, visit our STOCKS page .Vivian died on 11 Nov 1998 in Wayne Memorial Hospital, Goldsboro, Wayne Co, NC after a long battle with heart disease and diabetes. Grandma was the glue that held our immediate family together.

Doris A. AVERY


My great-Aunt Doris was born on 7 Dec 1930. She married Glenwood M. Jackson and they had two children: Paul and Glenda Kay. Doris died on 31 Aug 1998 after a silent battle with cancer. Glenwood passed on 9 Feb 1996.

Marshall Odell "Bus" AVERY


Born 23 Aug 1927, Marshall was a veteran of the United States Army. He was inducted into the US Army Ready Reserve (inactive status) on 10 Jan 1951 and transferred to active duty on 10 Jan 1953. On 18 Feb 1954 he received an honorable discharge for the Ready Reserve as a Corporal in Infantry. On 23 Jun 1955 he received an honorable discharge from active duty in USAR as a Private E-2. Marshal passed away on 25 Feb 1981 in Greenville, Pitt Co, NC and was interred at Grifton Cemetery, Grifton (Pitt Co), NC.

David Clarence "Runt" AVERY


Born on 7 Nov 1935, Clarence was a resident of Greenville NC at the time of his death on 2 Jun 1975. Clarence was a patient at Cherry Hospital (mental institution) in Goldsboro, Wayne Co, NC when he died. He is interred at the Grifton Cemetery, Grifton (Pitt Co), NC.
