When the next war comes, will the brave ones that die
have their names
carved on a cold black stone
And the ones that come back have to stand alone?
Will the people back home
Welcome them with open arms
Or will they have to stand alone?
Will it take twenty or thirty years of living with pain and fear
Before the ones that returned know that it's ok to shed a tear
For the ones that did not back home?
Or will they have to stand alone?
Have people learned from wars gone by
That it's not a sign of weakness for a soldier to cry?
We can only hope but it is not known
If a veteran will be able to get help
Or will he have to stand alone
