The Carolina Contesters Group was founded in 1995, by a group of about 10 ham radio operators from the Cabarrus, Cleveland, Gaston & Lincoln county area of North Carolina, (EM95). We have operated under several members call signs, and have officially formed a club and now have a club call NC4CQ.
The purpose of the group, at that time, was to scrape together enough equipment, and operators, to work ARRL VHF Contests. Our first group effort was the in June VHF Contest of 1995 from mountain top of Roan Mountain on the NC & Tenn border of EM85. We survived several gulley washers, and were hooked!
We have since participated in the:
ARRL January VHF Contest from Jonas Ridge, NC.
ARRL 2 Meter Spring Sprints from the Blue Ridge Parkway of NC.
ARRL 6 Meter Spring Sprints from the Blue Ridge Parkway of NC.
ARRL June VHF Contest from Banoak, NC.
ARRL September VHF Contest from Roan Mtn, TN
