In Loving Memory of My Best Friend Ondiea "Andre" Ellerbe" 1971-2001
It has taken me sometime to tribute anything to "Dre" as we all called him, because of the pain it would take to write this. In 1993 when I entered my freshman year at UNC-Charlotte I met Ondiea. From the first time I met him he saw things in me that I never even imagined. It was because of Dre, I was motivated to become the best. He taught me that the impossible, was always never impossible. He always encouraged me that I had what it took be a professional, athlete. Where others told me to abandon my dreams, he told me to chase them. So many times, people call themselves your friend. But I know he was my friend, because he fed me when I went through rough times. He gave me his last dollar, knowing that he was not going to get paid again for another month. Through all those times Dre gave of himself unselfishly. Because of you Dre, I am a better man, because you took time to believe in me. I will miss until we meet again. I love you and I'll be seeing you again. Click here to get Ondiea J. Ellerbe's Stats -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Summer In Review
This summer we were plaqued with inexperience and immaturity. The national team roster this year is shorter than teams of the past. Despite the darkness some bright spots shined. Newcomers Coleman McNeil, and Kamorean Hayes showed excellent progress and potential. While young Quinton Ballard shocked the field to make the AAU National team. LaPorsha Lowry and Janice Stark dominated the shot put and discus. The duo combined to have more than 15 1st place finishes in shot and discus. Dreis Rivens was a suprise in the javelin, while veteran Reggie Scott showed why persistent and consistent actions will yield the results you want. News: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Powerlifting Results Along with upcoming track season, many of our Track and Field athletes competed in the 1998 North Carolina State AAU Powerlifting Championships on Saturday Dec 5th, 1998. It was a day of great competition and great sportsmanships for the kids. Reggie Scott Charlotte,NC- Finally at last, it is finally done. Reggie Scott has finally made his first national team. He will lead a team of strong throwers into Hampton Virginia for the 2001 JR Olympic Games. Reggie first started working out with me in 1996. He was in position to make the national team, but he choose to pursue a national title in Taekwondo, which Scott is highly skilled at. This year alone Reggie was undefeated in the regular season in shotput and discus. He suffered his only loss of the season at the AAU regionals in Savannah, GA. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
