A voice in the darkness by 1st Vamp
A billion voices all shouting at once, in the dark
Countless lives all shining, in the light.
A voice in the dark, shouting for all it's worth
No one notices it, no one cares
It is not theirs, and so does not matter.
But when that voices raises to the list, they all notice at least once
The voice ceases, and the dark is motionless.
A billion voices shouting at once, in the dark
When one voice ceases, others must go on.
The dark is never quiet, for us
At least not, until the end.
Coffee Shop by Alan W.Goodson
Old men with nothing to do,
Who haven't gotten started yet.
A circle of old friends...coffee hot and bitter,
like some memories of youth gone by.
Reliving the past with half-remembered stories,
half-baked lies, and imagined truths only half-discovered.
Their days nothing more than fallen leaves
swept up in the cold, hard winds of time.
Remaining days of their lives measured in cups,
Cups of sorrowful lament, filled to the brim
with memories of paths not traveled,
choices never considered, chances never taken,
love never found, or lost in the haze of soft regret.
Untapped wells of knowledge...life experience seeping through,
to form stagnant pools of advice for youth
who don't listen, don't care, don't know or wonder
about frail words spoken in meaningful jest,
by old men whose lives don't seem to matter anymore.
Old men with nothing to do,
Finished before the day begins.
Left to compare scars of battles with life
and secrets of success never quite obtained.
Steam rising from their cups, like the spirit
of their youthful dreams, drifting off into thin air,
to mingle with the stale smoke of bridges burned.
Weathered faces hiding behind wrinkled masks,
sculptured by pain earned from hard work,
harder lessons, and hardest times.
Arguing over the bill that comes due
because they feel their debts have
already been paid in full, with interest.
The hands of the clock move more swiftly now,
speeding onward towards eternity, towards rest,
towards another world where the coffee is free,
the waitress doesn't expect a tip,
and the tables are always clean.
Old men with nothing to do,
And an eternity to finish.

(12-27-98) by Alice.
Don't speak,
The moment will pass.
Your voice will flood the
Baracades
That time has built for us.
If we're quiet,
My arms will be wrapped around
Your chest and
Your lips will longer
Pressed tightly against my forehead
Forever
11-11-99 5:00 am by Alice
That morning
you were lovely
and I wanted to wrap you
in my awkward body,
melt your beauty into
my restlessness
like my heart was melting
in your bed.
And my hands guided themselves
against your silhouette,
desiring the slope of hips,
the rise and fall of chest,
stealing the smooth of shoulder,
craving the hollow of your neck,
delighting in the strangeness
of a soft-skinned boy
who could be so far away
while I held him in my arms.
You whispered
through a veil of sleep
in between dreams
and a fluttering of eyes
that never seemed to wake
with each new breath of sun
upon lips
waiting for a kiss.
But I was helpless to move,
and when you woke, I was
helpless to speak
So I couldn't tell you
and you would never know
that I had been
enamored by you
all morning.

Conventions by Arron
I met a poet, a pauper
a prince and a leper.
none were glued too well together
they asked me, however, for an answer
I had none
I do what I am, I
am not what I do.
Now:
The poet rhymed but couldn't reason
and the pauper stood idle to await his season
the prince's every thought was in teason while
the leper lost his soul unable to be whole.
They were what they did, they
did not do what they were
their homes designed roof down
without a foundation...

Guess what Mommy and Daddy? by Beckie/Heavens Angel
Guess what mommy & daddy,
Heaven is great.
Just like you said,
There's not much longer to wait.
Guess what mommy & daddy,
I have a guardian angel who comes at night.
I told him I wanted to go,
But the times not right.
Guess what mommy & daddy,
My angel came this morning.
While you were still in bed,
He came with a warning.
Guess what mommy & daddy,
When I left with June.
So you could rest some more,
I knew my time was soon.
Guess what mommy & daddy,
When you were finally out of sight,
I told my angel,
The time is just right.
Guess what mommy & daddy,
When you still didn't know I was gone,
My angel put his hand in mine,
And I was no longer stiff or sick,I felt so happy & fine.
Guess what mommy & daddy,
When the hospital called,I saw you crying from above.
I saw daddy & how scared he was,
And I knew how much I was loved.
Guess what mommy & daddy,
On the way to the hospital I heard you pray,
Don't let them bring me back,
I know you don't want God to take me away.
Guess what mommy & daddy,
I saw you walk into the ER,and ask is he gone.
I saw the look on your face when the nurse said yes!
It looked like you'd never go on.
Guess what mommy & daddy,
I seen you holding me tight.
I kissed you good-bye with my love,
And tried to tell you I was alright.
Guess what mommy & daddy,
There's no more pain,
You can go on with your life,
And not feel so drained.
Guess what mommy & daddy,
I'll watch you all your days through.
And be like your guardian angel,
Just because,I LOVE YOU!!

Finality's Infinity by Daniel Howe
To be true,
there’s never
a right moment
for this sort of grief,
seldom ever
the right good bye,
life can heal
but never remove
these scars
they’re too deep
too close too soon
too final and
too much for now,
but, after all
there was sunshine
before those storms
flowers and warming hands
dew drops to singing tui,
love, seemed so around,
now and only just,
just again,
there’s warm days
storm days gray days
fair days and light,
sunshine some days
and sunshine some nights,
warm smiles warm eyes
living and life,
all different from yesterdays
for the rest of all whiles,
such a sad and beautiful World.

Sonnet 11 by Dave Who
You took my hand and, with a tender smile, you drew
Me gently to the flowered meadow of your counterpane
And showed such beauty on that blossomed plane
That, in my inmost dreams I never knew.
Such theme that Venus could not sing, I had from you
And angel's voices soared. You made me chamberlain
Of love, sovereign of this burgeoning terrain,
And handmaiden of Eros taught me how to love anew.
Inamorata of my never-dreamt, bouquets of love were strewn around
Your bower. Sweetmeats you presented for my tongue to savor--
Confection of such sweet desire that, oh, my heart did pound.
Seraphim were ranked, in glory, singing sweet the music of your favor
And the Gods of love, in jealousy, looked down and found
A mortal man in sole possession of a God's enchanted bower.

Plastic Carnations by Duane Locke
I never could smell the odor of plastic carnations.
She, the redhead, could;
She could even see the plastic petals wilt.
When she tells me she loves me for what I am,
I wonder
What I am to her.

No Title by Thi Nguyen
you gave me a hug
today
when i could not hold my true feelings
my lips uttered "l love you"
i looked into your angel eyes
they glittered, glittered, the fade
as though there were so much
that you wanted to say
* * *
The truth tunred out to be so cruel
i turned away
avoiding my tears to be seen
i was afraid it would hurt your feelings
but could i disguise
when what in my eyes
had told you all how i feel
in the moment yours met mine
* * *
please, my dear, please forgive me
for never would i mean to hurt you feelings
why could i be so selfinsh, so cruel
to say such thing that would hurt you.

A noiseless, patient spider,
I mark'd, where, on a little promontory, it stood, isolated;
Mark'd how, to explore the vacant, vast surrounding,
It launch'd forth filament, filament, filament, out of itself;
Ever unreeling them--ever tirelessly speeding them.
And you, O my Soul, where you stand,
Surrounded, surrounded, in measureless oceans of space,
Ceaselessly musing, venturing, throwing,--seeking the spheres, to
connect them;
Till the bridge you will need, be form'd--till the ductile anchor
hold;
Till the gossamer thread you fling, catch somewhere, O my Soul.
