Martin Luther King Jr. gives a beautiful speech describing the troubles that Negros in America endure, and his hopes that soon they will be free. During the speech the camera would cut away to show what Dr. King was describing. When he mentions the police brutality it shows black me getting beat up and brutalized. The video showed many monuments such as the Lincoln Memorial which us where the speech took place. Dr. King is trying to get a following and I believe that showing white people in the crowd of supporters helped show people watching in their homes that whites are supporting Dr. King. Most whites however, such as northern politicians, would not care about Dr. King’s remakes because it does not affect them. The politicians have no motive to get things changed; they are content with being lazy because they are still comfortable. On the other hand many southerners would be worried that this speech and any other speech might change their way of life. However, to see a black man stand up in front of an audience as Dr. King did and speak so well would convince many people to join Dr. King’s cause. If I was an international observer I would probably think that America was crazy for not giving these black people their freedom; and it would make me realize how bad the segregation and racism must really be in America. He played a lot on people’s emotions and stated the facts logically and clearly. I believe that this one speech was the reason that blacks received their freedoms so quickly. Without Dr. King’s passion it would have taken blacks many more years to be able to vote or be able to attend white schools. The “I Have a Dream” speech is an extremely well written argument.
