I truly believe the FBI is as incompetent as they are portrayed in this movie, which is quite entertaining BTW. In one scene, the FBI needs an agent to go undercover at the beauty pageant. So all these guys and Sandra Bullock are having a meeting. Hmmm. What agent could we find to handle this duty. Hmmm... They go through their whole database and no one is suitable. THEN they think, "Oh gee wiz we are desperate. Maybe SANDRA BULLOCK could do it!" Duh!!! At first I thought this was ridiculous, but after all their recent screw-ups (Robert Hanssen, Wen Ho Lee, Ruby Ridge, Waco, misplacing the Timothy McVeigh documents, and losing the guns and laptop computers) this is completely plausible and realistic.
