One surefire way for a movie to completely lose me is to have too many gross-out type scenes. The walking pile of shit demon-monster was way too disgusting for my taste.  But the rest of the movie was interesting, and I always cut Kevin Smith some slack.
I thought Clerks was one of the all-time great movies.  So ever since then I've been biased in favor of Kevin Smith movies.  It's interesting how the same actors and themes work their way into all of them.
