Buddy's Bluegrass Page

Festivals Gone By

Festivals and fiddler's conventions were a big part of my bluegrass experience when I first got started back in the 60's. Warrenton, Berryville, Reidsville, and Union Grove especially were important. Gradually, over the years, we stopped camping and going to festivals, except for the occasional local festival. Maybe when I retire. . .

Even though I wasn't as good a photographer then and didn't have the equipment I have now, these photos bring back pleasant memories and remind me how lucky I was to get started when I did. We'll start off with the man

himself in the late 60's. Kenny Baker is on the left with the fiddle and, according to TD, James Monroe is singing and Roland White is on the guitar. .

Well, that's about it. I'm sorry for the "I can't remembers", but, at the time, I didn't know I would still be doing this thirty years later.
