Lres.Tuition granted to Wm. Pace over Barbarey(Barnaby?) Thos. & Elisha Thomas orphans of Barnaby Thomas he giving Sec. therefore in the sum of L5000. Ord. that Ann Thomas widow and Adm of Phillip Thomas be notified to return an Acct of her Adm on the estate of the said deced. relating to the orphans estate. Another record from Bertie is as follows: 8 Feb 1742, Alice Thomas provided rights Vizt: Alice Thomas, James Thomas, Jacob Thomas, Mary Thomas,...whites; & York, Rose, Ned, Simon, Phillis, and Penny ...blacks Ind.
North Hampton County was created from Bertie County in 1741.

Deed, (3-72, North Hampton NC), 17 May 1760. Elisha Thomas of North Hampton NC to Britton Dawson of South Hampton in the Colony of Virginia, 126 acres granted unto Barnaba Thomas on 1 May 1668. The land is situated in the northerly woods of the Roanoke River and ajoining the swamp and John Burgess corner. Witnesses were Hezakiah Hough and Joseph Sikes. Britton Dawson sold this land ( 4-425, North Hampton NC) to Joseph Sikes on 1 Jan 1766. This deed states the land was originally granted to Barnaba Thomas on 1 May 1668 by "His Excelency John Lord Cartrite and the rest of the true & absolute Lords Proprietors of Carolina". Witnesses were William Sikes and Samuel Edwards

Deed, (3-176, North Hampton NC), 11 Feb 1761. Elisha Thomas of Johnston County NC to Benjamin Branch. For 204 acres lying on the Little Swamp on the north side of Roanoke River. The land adjoined John Green lands. This tract was originally granted to Benjamin Thomas on 1 May 1668. Witnesses were Wm. Pace, Solomon Pace, Wm Pace Jr, and Ben Thomas.

Grant # 2257, Johnston NC, to Elsiha Thomas. Ent 3 Mar 1779, Sur 24 Aug 1779, Iss 21 Oct 1782. For 500 acres on the north side of the Buffaloe Swamp, adjoining his own land, and including the improvements wheron James Oliver lives. Chain Bearers were Drury Vinson and John Hayles.

Grant # 2330, Johnston County NC, to Elisha Thomas. Ent 3 Mar 1779, Sur 25 Aug 1779, Iss 21 Oct 1782. For 540 acres on the north side of the Neuse River and adjoing his own lines and those of Thomas Tomlinson and Drury Vinson. Chain bearers were Drury Vinson and John Hayles.

Mary Thomas, 7 Apr 1779, Johnston County NC> To loving son Malicah, my plantation that I bought at & own due to the sail of my father Joseph Thos. Estate. To sister Temperance Thos, for the raising of Malicah, the residue of my estate. Temperance Thomas and Benejamin Jones is appointed Executors. Wit: James Holliman and Jas Pace

Elisha Thomas, 26 Feb 1803, Pro. May 1803, Johnston NC. I lend to my wife Lucy Thomas, til her death, 500 acres where I now live. I give to Alexander Thomas the land I lent to wife Lucy. I give to my son Elisha all lands on Buffaloe Swamp joining Jesse Pitman, George Cooper, and Lemueal Jelks lines and being 600 acres. I give to son Barnaby Thomas all the land on the Neuce River wheron he now lives. To son Solomon Thomas ten shillings. To daughter Elizabeth Hinton, ten shillings. To Daughter Cynta Hayles ten shillings. I give and bequath to daughter Lucy Lockhart ten shillings. To daughter Winfred Lockhart ten shillings. Daugter Penelope Thomas three negroes. I give to my four daughters Elizabeth Hinton, Cyntha Hayles, Lucy Lockhart, and Winford Lockhart two negroe boys. Executors were wife Lucy Thomas, John Vinson, and Elisha Thomas Jr. Witnesses were John Gulley George Gully and Jesse Wall.
