My mother tried to tell me
"That boy will break your heart."
But I thought I was in love
And my heart wouldn't fall apart.
I hid all my pain he caused
And smiled through my tears
I covered all of my hurt
And ignored all of my fears.

But when I realized
That my mother was right
I let go of him for good
and thought Id never again see the light.
Then came you
From Heaven above.
You showed me life
And how to really be in love.
