I wake up wrapped in your arms.
You still asleep...so peacefully
So innocent. So perfect.
I run my fingers gently along your hair.
and behind your ear,
down your chin and around your lips
I long to steal a kiss
but I fear I will wake you from your peaceful rest
I watch as you breathe, and I see you slightly grin.
Is it I you are dreaming of? I wonder.
I hope.
I sign, contently, as a tear rolls down my cheek.
Happiness, satisfaction.
A realization comes to me as we lay there.
Of just how happy you make me. How much you mean.
How gorgeous you are and how I love you so!
Thoughts and memories rush through my mind
as I continue to watch you rest.
Of Firsts. Of favorites, of those still to come.
You begin to move. Your sleepy eyes look to mine.
I smile, lovingly.
You manage a slight grin, too.
You squeeze me closer to your body and kiss me
on my forehead
"I love you." you say, still half asleep.
I tell you so back.
I sigh contently once more as you return to sleep.
I do so, too... still in your arms. Sighing.
Happiness. Love...
