The Pencil Test

This goes way back, as far as I can remember. The "Pencil Test" is a long lived Coleman Family Tradition. I can't really say who started it, or how they knew what each detail of the test meant, but since the beginning (of my time, at least), it has been 100% accurate. The "Pencil Test", when taken correctly, is supposed to determine how many children you will have and their sexes. It seems silly, but it has been right for my mother, and her mother, and all of the rest of the family.

Since this is dedicated to the Nestor's, we'll tell their prediction... let's see if it holds true.

Susan was tested with The "Pencil Test" and it predicted that she will give birth to four boys in her lifetime. If correct, her non-beleiving husband, Alex, may just turn into a beleiver of the "Pencil Test."

How it Works
Materials:
*) Sewing Needle
*) Sharpened Pencil with eraser
*) String
*) Steady Hands of Bystander (Tester)
*) Testee (okay, not what you're thinking)... aka someone to test on!

Preparing the Material:
1) Loop string through needle.
2) Stick needle into eraser of pencil.

How to Test:
1) To the testee: Lie your arm onto a flat surface. Lie it so that your arm is elbow down, palm facing up.
2) To the tester: Make sure your hands can be steady. Hold the pencil (lead down) over, but not touching, the testee's wrist (where you can see the veins of the wrist.
3) Hold by the string and hold it as still as possible. Gradually, the pencil will begin to sway. This is the beginning of the test.

The Actual Test and Interpretations:
The pencil test is supposed to determine number and sex of children. As the pencil gradually swings, it will make a circle or a line, then slow to a halt, and may start againg or stop completely. This is the reading of the test.

How to Read the Test:
* If you have a circling of the pencil, this means that there will be a girl born.
* If you have a straight line swinging, this means that there will be a boy born.
* If the pencil stops completely, you will only have one child.
* If the pencil stops and begins again, stay still, it means there is more than one child.
* If the pencl stops and begins shaking, the test is completed.
* Depending on how many times the pencil circles or forms a line, determines how many children you have. And depending on what the sex was shows the order in which you will have the children.(Example: circles, stops, circles, stops, line, stop means girl, girl, boy in that order).

So, now that you have learned how to determine the sex and number of children you will have, do you rely on the old family tradition, or wonder if it was coincidence?
