The Big Decision (Are we REALLY Ready?)

Alex and Susan decided to start their family shortly after moving to Pennsylvania in 2002. They were away from family and thought it would be great timing to start a family of their own, but they also wanted to keep the whole ordeal a secret. They wanted to "KNOCK EVERYONE'S SOCKS OFF." They visited toe Obgyn, Dr. James Bonner, several months prior to trying to conceive so they could get the education needed. Susan stopped taking her birth control pill and began prenatal vitamins several months prior and to become pregnant.

Ovulation (Ovulatiooon, wait wait, thats the song from Grease 2.... no wait, that's Re-pro-duction!)

While trying to conceive, Susan started noticing signs that she might be pregnant. She also saw a shooting star while driving down the road that same day (A DEFINITE SIGN FOR THE SUCKERS WHO BELEIVE IN FATE).

Symptoms (oooh, that doesn't feel good)

Susan suspected that she may be pregnant for a couple of reasons. The main sign was, of course, the obvious symptoms (i.e. basal body temperature was elevated and tri-phasic stage were evident - for those who aren't familiar, this simply means they are two strong signs of pregnancy). Other obvious pains and annoyances of the body also occured. She felt hungry, began to burp a lot (then again, those who know her realize this may only be her IBS), and bleeding gums.

The Test (Test? Is it multiple choice... oh sorry, wrong kind of test)

Susan and Alex decided to take the test on MONDAY, OCTOBER 4TH, 2002. Susan awoke with butterflies in her stomach after a night of restlessness from excitement. She went to the bathroom and nervously took the EPT Pregnancy Test. She woke Alex up and waited 3 minutes for the results. They went into the bathroom together to read the results. They saw a FAINT PINK line.... POSITIVE!!!!!!!!!!!

Susan: "It's there." (referring to the line)
Alex: "You knew."
Susan: "You are going to be a DADDY!!!!"
Alex: "And you are going to be a great MOMMY!!!!"

Then they held each other in silence and tears poured like a waterfall. They had to get ready for work, and Alex showered, singing the words to the song "With Arms wide Open" by Creed . Susan bought the cd for him while he was at work and had it playing for him when he came home during his lunch break. They just cried and held each other and sat on the couch in silence, listening to the words.

****On OCTOBER 6th, Susan and Alex performed a second test, and recieved a brighter positive. They called and scheduled their first doctors appointment.
