Philanthropy

So far, the 2003 calendar year has been very fun and successful in terms of the chapter’s philanthropy. This year’s polar plunge was a visual delight for all who attended. Best costume was awarded to the chapter for the third year in a row thanks to some well thought out Britney Spears-like catholic school-girl outfits. Over nine hundred dollars were donated to Special Olympics from the chapter alone. Congrats to Joe Ioia for paying roughly fifty dollars for a “charitable” pizza. This fall has been extremely busy with all of the charitable events we have done. Our first big event was lounge around. Lounge Around is a 48-hour drive on campus to raise money for the Guilford County Animal Shelter. During the drive, AM’s and Brothers sit by the fountain with four puppies collecting donations, and trying to get the puppies adopted. The event has taken place every semester for the past two years. This year we collected over 150$ plus we got to meet a lot of girls. Our upcoming events are our can food drive and pumpkin fest. I am confident both will be a success and allow us to give more to the community we live in.
