Send JJ to the Jr. Nationals

Jae Norman Pedde, an 11 year old 4th grader at W.T. Brown Year-Round Elementary in Fayetteville, has been chosen to help represent Cumberland County and the state of North Carolina at the National Tourney in Louisville, Ky.

Jae has been participating in Kodokon Judo for the past five years and it has helped him gain a greater ability to handle his self-confidences and inner strength.

Any help you send will not only help him go to this annual event, but will help his team mates. Donations can be sent to the address at the top of the letter.

Thank you,

The Fayetteville/Ft. Bragg Judo Club is seeking donations to send a team of 17 boys and girls to the United States Judo Association Junior National Tournament in Louisville, Kentucky on July 4-5, 2003. The team has competed in regional tournaments for the past year, attending practice three times a week and maintained good grades in school. The children, ages 7-15, will compete in their age and weight categories against children from Judo Clubs all over the United States and Canada.

The children and their families have worked very hard to make this trip come true, but need help. While yard and candy sales are still on going, the cost of lodging and entry fees is very high. In the past we had been able to get grants through the Fayetteville Police Department and federal government, but world events have stopped most funding to our level.

Each family has been asked to find sponsors. While we realize that not everyone is in a position to give generously, any donation is more than what we had and will benefit the team. Please make checks out to Fayetteville/Ft. Bragg Judo Club and send them in care of the Fayetteville Police Department at the above address.

If you are ever interested in seeing where the money we are requesting is making a difference, you have an open invitation to observe our class at the Police Training Center located at 671 N. Eastern Blvd. in Fayetteville. We meet every Monday and Wednesday from 6-7 p.m. for the children and 7-8:30 p.m. for the adults.

For further information please call the Fayetteville Police Department Community Relations Specialist, Gwen Yeager at 910-433-1847 or 433-1033. Thank you.
