NBA

The National Basketball Association also known as NBA is the men’s basketball championship played on a professional level in North America. Founded in New York City on June 6, 1946 as the Basketball Association of America (BAA), the confederacy became known as National Basketball Association in the fall of 1949. The goal of the participating teams is to win the Larry O'Brien Trophy. The NBA playoffs take place at the end of the regular season and are properly scheduled between the leading 8 teams from each of the 2 conferences. The playoffs are a great sensation and a knocking tournament in which 2 preeminent teams play against each other playing best of 7 games. The first team to 4 wins progresses to the next level. In the NBA finals the winning team of the eastern conference playoffs and the winning team of the western conference playoffs compete for the Larry O’Brien trophy. The finals are also played over a best of 7 game format. The final winning team is crowned NBA Champions for that season and is given away the coveted award.

The Larry O'Brien Trophy is named after Lawrence (Larry) Francis O'Brien Jr. he was a man of strategies who worked for more than two decades to improve the American Politics. In 1975, he was appointed by the National Basketball Association to serve as its commissioner. With no looking back he served the sport meticulously and directed the successful union of the NBA with the American Basketball Association. He negotiated television-broadcast agreements with CBS Television. His dedication towards the sport helped the league to attract and increase the game attendance significantly. He continued this service through 1984.
