Art Reviews. By the now deceased Laney Diva.

week 2

This week I have been embracing the work of a wonderful new artist who has sent me some of his artwork. Simon Richardson's work is remenicent of some of Andy Warhol's greatest pieces. He uses his medium to his advantage and really shows his genius and knowledge of pop art.

Unfortunatly, as I have only been in contact with this fresh young artist via e-mail I have been unable to bring you an interview with the man himself but I have been able to get my hands on a copy of his work.

This piece he has entitled "My Beautiful Venus"

week 1

This week I have been looking into the work of a young new artist that goes by the name of Berny Bogbelch. Berny has been studying at the Mingers school of art for the last 5 years and has made quite a name for himself in the local art scene.

Berny first came to light when he debuted at his local gallery with his most extraordinary piece of work to date, his marvellous "bottom of the barrel". He wowed art critics with his ingenious yet tongue in cheek view of modern life. He told me this in a recent interview.

"Well I always wondered what the saying 'bottom of the barrel' really meant, so I decided to get a barrel, take the bottom off it and show the bottom of the barrel as a piece of art to see if anyone would give me an explanation of the saying."

When asked if he had found the answer he was looking for, he replied, "Well to tell the truth, once I got it into the gallery, I lost interest and anyway all those ponces wanted to talk about was if I saw it as a symbolic representation of modern man. Which just confused me even more".
