My wife and I bought our glider "Dunder" about 4 months ago. He
quickly became a wonderfull
member of our family. Suzan is a middle school teacher and would
take him to work with her in his
pouch or sometime he would would just curl up in her bra (more often
than not) We played with
him every evening. He would jump from the plants in our living
room from the couches and back in
a kind of teasing manner. He became especially good freinds with
our collie "Elvis", he would jump
onto his head and bury his face in his ears and attack him in the most
playfull manner. Well, the
worst that could have possibly happened, happened. We had read
the chat about gliders and
toilets, and we thought we were carefull :-(, but..... we left him
alone in the spare bedroom, where
we had setup a play area for him and placed a towel under the door
to ensure his safety. Later that
evening, when it was time for bed, Suzan went to put Dunder back in
his cage and he was nowhere
to be found. We searched the entire house, only for me to hear
a scream from the direction of the
master bedroom. I knew immediately what had happened. Suzan
ran from the bedroom to tha
backyard. I went and looked in the toilet, and my worst fears
came to life. There lying in the
bottom was the body of our friend and companion, Dunder.
If there is one thing to be learned, from this, never assume your glider
is safe. Always make sure
that the toilet lids are closed, and you know where your glider is
at all times. The pain of seeing
your friend dead is horrible. We have both shed many a
tear since last night, and will most
definetly do so again
