Welcome to my scottish recipe site. Most of the recipes are family favourites which we would like to share. I am originally from Glasgow but have been living in the North now for a few months and have discovered amazing treats I had never tried before!
There are some great ideas for making your own favourite foods which you miss when living outside Scotland, such as square sausage, potato scone and macaroon bars.
One of my many memories of my family is my gran teaching me to bake. We once baked a jam tart, we rolled out the pastry and made the tart on a tea plate - just the right size for an 8 year old! It is still my favourite treat today. Another fond memory was a disaster my aunt had while making tablet. We were all going skating to Irvine ice rink. the tablet didn't set properly and just tasted of condensed milk! Anyway we took this soggy mess ice skating with us and us kids ate the lot, not wanting to offend!
Some of the recipes were made by my gran, namely the lentil soup. Others were made by a relative who moved overseas and missed her favourite food so much that she decided to learn to make her own. Such things like square sausage, potato scone, tablet, macaroon bars and truffles. I am sure you will love these too!
