Almost looks like stripes. A very interesting pattern on this Fairburn. This one is also unpolished, it is as I found it. While here, check out the background picture. This is what a lot of the ground looks like in the Railroad Buttes area, which is where this one came from. Can you imagine that many agates and jaspers under foot at any given step? Its hard to decide which one to pick up first! This picture was taken right there in "my rock huntin' area! Are you drooling yet?
This one was a Gift
A "gift" from a friendly Prairie Dog! Hunting over a Prairie Dog Town, this tremendous specimen was setting atop a mound of fresh dirt. Evidently the rock was in the Prairie Dogs way, so he managed to move it out of his way, and left it setting atop the fresh pile of dirt he had removed. I never pass up the chance to check out the "dogs" dirt mounds. They have provided me with some nice finds in the past. Never have they been this nice or this big! This one is the "largest" Fairburn. now in my collection. Thank you Mr. PD! The colors and the pattern design are out of this world! Oh yes, for your benefit, this was found at the Railroad Buttes area.
Small but nice
Heres a dainty little Fairburn. It only measures 2 1/2" across, but some nice fortification. Consists of a red outline, with white inside and clear crystal as the center. The pattern wraps all the way around front and back. Also found in a Prairie Dog mound, not 50' from the last one you just seen, and on the same day. This entire specimen would not cover the pattern on the big Fairburn.
