Welcome to Patt's Place!
This is the start of a wonderful adventure. I began a study of genealogy in July 1998 at the urging of my wonderful Aunt Doris. We are attempting to connect families, each in our own way. Some of the families are shared by us, some not. If you see a connection to any names, let us know. You  may be the missing link we're looking for!

Thank you, Auntie, for the "bug".
Families I am researching are:

McCarroll,Duffy
Ireland, New York and Michigan
Kacir, Gurek/Grovcik/Grofcik/Gurek
Illinois and Michigan(Slovakia)
Pollak/Poljak,Yuhas/Yuhasz
Pennsylvania and Michigan(Austria/Hungary)
Rose, Charon/Sharrow
Michigan, Canada, France
The Bruce Dettloff Family

As time permits, I will be adding more photos and family trees.
Lillian Sharrow Rose, c. 1920s?
Married William S. Rose
She was called Ellen, Ella or Lillian
The William Rose Family (ca. 1890s?) (Back row) Jul, Eva, Joseph, William S. and Jen. (Front row) William, Mabel and Malenda. This picture was e-mailed to me from a newly-found cousin in California, Mabel's grandson. Thanks, Don.

This family came to Michigan from Montreal in 1834 and settled in the Anchorville, Ira Township area. They were ship builders and captains.

Our John McCarroll is said to have been born in County Tyrone in 1864. He came to the US before his 1890 marriage to Mary Anne. Mary Anne Duffy is said to have been born in County Meath in 1871. Although both of their families relocated to Dublin, Ireland, they didn't meet until they were in the State, New York to be exact. They settled in Glen Cove, Long Island, New York. John and Mary Anne had seven children. Son Andrew Raymond, born 1899,  relocated to Michigan where he met my grandmother, Alvera Rose, born in Anchorville, MI in 1900 or 1901. He was a boarder in her parents' home.
New York family groups - coming soon
The Wedding of Marie Mary Pollak and Francis Aloysius Kacir October 14, 1924, my maternal grandparents. Grandfather Frank came from Pana, Christian County, Illinois. He was born in 1900. Grandma Marie was born in Pennsylvania, baptized in Lyndora. Frank and Mary met when he was a boarder at Mary's parents' home. He came to Michigan to work in the factories

Anyone remember this old place? Lots of good times were had by all.
A NOTE ABOUT THE MUSIC: "Maple Leaf Rag" was an integral part of any family gathering all throughout my life. At first, my grandfather Ray McCarroll played it,  my dad, Glenn, entertains us with it now with a little coaxing and my brother, Brian, treats us when he can. Couldn't have the page complete without this tribute. A party wasn't a party without the "ricky-ticky" music on the old piano. Used to be, thumbtacks were stuck in the hammers to make the music sound more old-time, like the silent movies.
