Weigh you Horse
Option 1
| W = |
HG² x BL 330 |
space |
W | = | Weight in pounds |
| HG | = | Heart girth in inches |
| BL | = | Body length in inches |
Heart Girth - This is measured by wrapping the tape around the horses girth. Make sure the tape covers the highest part of the withers, and about where the saddle girth would go.
Body Length - This is measured from the point of the should, to the point of the buttock.
Example: How much does your horse weigh?
- Estimate the horses weight:
- Heart girth = 70"
- Body length = 69"
| W = | (70)2 x (69) 330 | = 1024 lbs. |
Option 2
This second option requires more effort, and more tools, but is a lot more accurrite.
Hook your horse trailer up to your vehicle, and go to a Semi weigh station. You must then weigh you vehicle and trailer together. Some places will allow this, some won't the place my friends parents go to, charge a $20.00 Cdn. fee to get weighed. After you have weighed your vehicle, remeber the EXACT weight. Go home, and put your horse in the trailer. Then go back and get weighed again. Subtract this weight, from the last one and you will have the weight of your horse.
