Gibraltar is at the most southern tip of Spain. When we went during the
70's, the border with Spain was closed. Its has since been opened, and you are free to cross it.
Our ship, almost from the top of the rock (using a strong zoom lens)
Gibralatar, is a very small place. However it does have that very British "quaintness" about the place.
The beaches are on the East side, with the main town to the west. British money, and policemen. Marks and Spencers .....
what more could you want ?

Just remember to keep your hands in your pockets when you meet them. Otherwise
they'll have their hands in "your" pockets, and take what ever you have there !
