Beekeeping

April 2012

Bees will now be geared up ready for full production! After an unseasonably mild March, the weather has now turned cooler and wetter. But the queen will probably be laying and as soon as we get a fine day or two, there is a good chance we will have swarms emerging.
Be prepared! Now is the time to consider your swarm control methods as the
bees won’t wait for you. When you have gaps of reasonable weather, check for queen cells and have spare equipment ready.

There are numerous methods of swarm control. Stick to one that you are confident with: if you have problems, speak to one of our more experienced beekeepers.
