In Loving Memory of

DOUGLAS DAGGETT

Feb.6, 1924 - May 17, 1998

Remember Me

To the living, I am gone
To the sorrowful, I will never return
To the angry, I was cheated
But, to the happy, I am at peace
And to the faithful, I have never left
I can not speak, but I can listen
I can not be seen, but I can be heard
So as you stand upon the shore
Gazing at the beautiful sea, remember me
As you look in awe at a mighty forest
And its grand majesty, remember me
Remember me in your hearts,
In your thoughts, and the memories of the
Times we loved, the times we cried, the
Battle I fought and the times we laughed
For if you always think of me, I will
Have never gone.

Doug in England, before leaving for Italy, 1943

This is a memorial page for my husband, Doug - the love of my life, my best friend, half my soul. He was taken so suddenly on a Sunday evening that there was no time for us to say goodbye. My life totally changed that night and I will always miss him more than any words can ever express.

When he died a light went out in my life that made my world much darker and very cold. There is a huge empty place in my heart and nothing will ever replace his love, his compassion, his wonderful sense of humour, his love of life. He was my life. I loved him dearly and we did everything together. He is with me in memory every minute of every day and night, and my loneliness will be forever.

I grieve for Doug and his lost dreams. I grieve for me - for the loss of the life we spent twenty-three years building and our lost dreams- I feel angry, cheated and incredibly sad. He was, still is and will always be, an integral part of my life.

His heart was full of love for those he held most dear- his family and friends. He loved music and he loved life. The hymn you are listening to now is one he used to sing to his children , in his beautiful tenor voice, when he drove them to school in the mornings.

Doug was a wonderful and very caring father to eight children - Brock, Sharon, Blaine, Stephanie, Toby, Donna, Bryce, and Sybil - they were his life.
