Motto : "Youth for the future of Chinland"

BACKGROUND

Burma, known today as Myanmar with a population of nearly 52 million, has been ruled by dictatorial regime since 1962. The political situation, under military regime, was highly repressive and by 1988, a peaceful demonstration led by students was organized nation-wide. Their demand for basic rights and a change in leadership was responded with killings thousands of people by military government. As brutal suppression and detaining continue, thousands of students and civilians take refuge in neighboing countries, such as Thailand, India and Bangladesh.

Today, after more than several decades of dictatorial rule in Burma, the economy is at its lowest level and the continous human rights violation is the regime's daily practice in Burma.

In light of the fact that, the regime has shown no signs of transitioning power from dictatorship to democratically elect civil government, we, a group of Chin students and youth, who share common visions, formed Chin Student and Youth Organization (USA) to continue our struggle for freedom in Chinland.

  1. To restore freedom of the Chin people.
