The mists swirl in utter abandon
through the chilled air.
Each step an intrusion.
Oft heard tales come pouring forth,
to further terrorize the soul.
Step by cautious step,
sodden grass absorbing all sign of passage.
Each breath crystallizing like a crystal kiss upon thy cheek.
Beaded forehead belies the coolness in the air.

A hand shoots out of the fading mists
clamping down upon thy arm. 
A choked off scream as recognition follows.
The musky scent envelopes thy senses.
A well tended memory.
A bulk form presses behind thee,
strong and unyielding.
Shelter and security long yearned for.,
Never forgotten caring.
