In this paper, I will talk about F. Scott Fitzgerald. F. Scott Fitzgerald was born in May 1896 in St. Paul, Minnesota. He grew up with two brothers and a sister. Ever since he was a little boy, Fitzgerald always showed a talent in writing. In fact, he published his first book when he was only thirteen years old. In his late teen years, Fitzgerald decided that he wanted to go to college. He applied to many different colleges, but decided on Princeton. During his three years Princetion, Fitzgerald wrote and published many books. Surprisingly, he chose not to finish college and joined the war effort. While Fitzgerald was stationed in Alabama, he met Zelda Sayre. They both fell in love and soon were married. From then on, Zelda was the focal point of his life and his writing. After their Honeymoon, they decided to move to XXXX because the writing jobs were more plentiful their then in St. Paul. Fitzgerald immediately got a job writing for some local magazines there. In the meantime, Fitzgerald’s books were starting to gain some recognition. The Great Gatsby was made into a movie. He was slowly heading to the top. Everything seemed to be going perfect for him. However, prosperity doesn’t last forever. Fitzgerald’s wife, Zelda, became increasingly weary. She got dizzy spells, and sometimes she couldn't walk. The doctor told her that she was having mental breakdowns. Each breakdown could result in brain damage. Then, the Great Depression hit. Once the stock market crashed, Fitzgerald had a hard time getting jobs. He eventually turned to drinking and soon after became an alcoholic. His life as he knew it was going down the tubes. Finally, his heart couldn’t take all the stress, and he had a heart attack at the age of 44. In this paper, I will discuss what F.Scott Fitzgerald became famous for, what conditions led him to do what he did, and how he effected society today. I will also give my personal opinion of F. Scott Fitzgerald.
