Day Eight

Bright & Early Monday morning … We Were BACK AT IT!
FIRST STOP
CRATHES CASTLE
(“CRAW' – thiss”)
& the MAGNIFICENT
GARDENS there!


I’m going to DISPENSE with narration for most of these pix.
(Oh! Don’t have a heart attack & DIE from that SHOCK!)
Also, I’m not sizing them “down.” So, you may need to
scoot the bar at the bottom of your screen to the right,
to see ALL of some pix on the right.


“Retraining” of several shrubs was occurring in some areas.
So, you could see INTO the amazing structure
of these ancient entities. I found it phenomenal
to observe that the thick and solid shrub EXTERIOR
was only an INCH or so in DEPTH!

We here record with gratitude
the great contribution made
to the gardens by the late
SIR JAMES & LADY BURNETT of LEYS
The donors of this property to the Trust in 1952.
His renowned collection of shrubs
and her unique gift for colour design
& planting added much to the interest &
beauty of their old established garden.


We took too many amazing pix of this Garden for ONE page.
