OF HUMAN BONDAGE

Xander pulled back after staking the vamp. As the dust settled he checked his watch. It was three in the morning. He turned to his new 'Patrol Buddy', Spike.

"It's getting to be morning, you want to head home?" He asked

"Actually I was thinking, you want to do something. Things are so boring without my Dru here. I thought maybe you and me could hang out, do some male bonding. What do you think?" Spike asked, as close to a puppy dog look as he got on his face. "What do you have in mind?" Xander asked warily.

"You'll see. Let's take my car," Spike said excitedly as he started off toward his battered Desoto. The teen followed reluctantly.

THAT SIGN CAN'T BE A GOOD SIGN

They pulled to a stop in front of a place on the edge of town. The garish neon sign out front proclaimed it Cap'n Zany's Super Funtabulous Good Time and Alcohol Distribution Center. Xander shuddered as they got out of the car. Spike was beaming as he led the young man through the large double doors in front. "Hey,Spike! Who's your friend?" a jolly little fat man in the vestibule shouted as they entered.

"This is my mate, Xander. Xander, this is Cap'n Zany," Spike said , introducing the two. "Hi, Kid, pleased to meet you. What you in the mood for tonight, Spike?" Cap'n Zany asked. "

I think we'll start with bowling tonight, Cap'n," Spike said in a thoughtful voice.

"I like bowling," Xander said, thinking this might not turn out as bad as he had feared.

PRIDE GOETH BEFORE THE KAROKE

"That tight enough?" the swarthy looking gentleman asked Xander, as he finished strapping him into the human bowling ball.

"I guess so," Xander answered, not knowing how tight it needed to be. "

'Kay," the guy said and sealed the ball up. Xander turned to look at the giant Hamster ball next to him. Spike was smiling at him, and gave him a thumbs up. "Here goes," the guy said and shoved the ball down the lane. Xander was suddenly filled with great pity for shirts everywhere. He had no idea being spun in every possible direction could be this traumatic. Then, just as suddenly as it had begun, everything stopped. He collided with the giant foam rubber pillars that were used for 'pins'. Luckily his helmet took most of the blow. He was quickly rolled to an upright position. Then the guy who had strapped him in was letting him out. It took him a few seconds, but he eventually regained his balance. He looked around and saw Spike, out of his ball as well, smiling at him. "Wasn't that great?" the vampire asked. "

Not as much fun as an atomic wedgie, but yeah, I enjoyed it," Xander answered sarcastically.

"Well I'm sure you'll like what's next better," Spike said, laughing.

"Why, what's next?" Xander asked, worried.

BUT WHERE'S DEBRA WINGER?

"Are you sure this is safe?" Xander asked skeptically, as they finished getting him settled on the back of the bull. "

Of course, they wouldn't let you do it if it wasn't safe," Spike told him reassuringly.

"What's this things name, anyway?" Xander asked. "Widowmaker, but don't worry, you aren't married," Spike said, smiling, as the buzzer sounded and the gate opened. Xander was tossed back and forth by the bucking bull. He hit his head, first against the bull's head, and then against its back. He somehow maintained consciousness. He wasn't certain that was a good thing, though. The roar of the spectators was almost inaudible over the pounding of his pulse in his ears. Eventually, what felt like hours later, he was thrown from the bull. Years of experience fleeing from monsters came in handy as Xander scrambled from the ring. As much as he hated to admit it, it had been awfully exhilarating. Spike came up to him once he was out, and slapped him on the back. Cap'n Zany then came over and handed Xander a Huge trophy. "I can't believe it! Twenty seconds! You just blew the old record by nine seconds, Mate!" Spike shouted at him. People were screaming and slapping him on the back. Everyone wanted to have their picture taken with him and his trophy. Girls were sticking their phone numbers in the top of the trophy. It was the most amazing experience in Xander's life.

"It's like being a rock star, isn't it?" Spike said in his ear as he led him to the bar.

AND NOW... (DUM DA DA DUM DA DA DA) ... THE KAROKE

They were in the bar. Spike was drinking Wild Turkey, straight from the bottle. Xander was having Saspirilla. Cap'n Zany had taken the Trophy, to get it inscribed in the back. They were waiting to get it back. "You feel like doing Karoke?" Spike asked, his speech slightly slurred.

"It depends, You going to do it with me?" Xander replied. "Shhher! let's do sumthin' peppy!" Spike said shooting off his stool, and nearly falling to the floor. They went to the stage and looked through the catalogue. They came upon a song they both knew, and agreed to just sing together, rather than try and split it. They punched in the code and cleared their throats as the music came on. They then both began singing:

\I remember all my life
raining down cold as ice.
Shadows of a man,
a face through a window cryin' in the night,
the night goes into,\

\Morning just another day;
happy people pass my way.
Looking in their eyes,
I see a memory I never realized how happy you made me.\

\Oh Mandy well,
you came and you gave without taking,
but I sent you away.
Oh,Mandy well,
you kissed me and stopped me from shaking,
and I need you today.
Oh, Mandy!\

\I'm standing on the edge of time;
I've walked away when love was mine.
Caught up in a world of uphill climbing,
the tears are in my mind nothin' is rhyming.\

\Oh Mandy well,
you came and you gave without taking,
but I sent you away.
Oh Mandy well,
you kissed me and stopped me from shaking,
and I need you today.
Oh, Mandy!\

"God, I miss Dru so much!" Spike wailed as they finished singing, and fell against Xander, sobbing.

"It's alright man, I'm sure you'll get her back," Xander said as he patted the vampire on the back, getting a little misty himself.

"I love you, man," Spike said as he straightened himself out.

"Ditto, man," Xander replied. "Here's your trophy," Cap'n Zany said as he came in with Xander's trophy. "Thanks, you did a great job," Xander said, inspecting his prize.

"No Problem. We like to keep our Champs happy,"Cap'n Zany said before he wandered off to help someone else. "So, same time tomorrow?" Spike asked.

"You bet," Xander said.

THE END.... FOR NOW?
