John J. Barr serves as senior
communications counsel to Association Strategy Group.
John began his consulting career as Canadian public affairs
practice leader for one of the world's largest international
public relations consulting firms. Currently, he provides
senior counsel to several leading not-for-profit organizations
as well as corporations in the health, insurance, resource
and financial sectors.
He has spearheaded leading edge work in corporate positioning
and organizational change as well as work in crisis preparedness
and Internet business intelligence services. His issues
management case histories include some of Canada's most
successful public affairs coalitions.

John's strategic thinking is
based on a wide foundation of experience in the news media
(at the beginning of his career he was Canada's youngest
editorial writer for a daily newspaper), as well as in
politics and in the energy business, where he ran a major
corporate public affairs department for 16 years.
John holds a Master's degree in political science and
has written two books and numerous articles on Western
Canadian history. He is the Public Relations Society of
America Consultants Institute.
