Winter 2011-2012 Appalachian Pagan Alliance Newsletter

Winter 2011-2012 was alas a busy time for the APA. We were forced to once again take up Ares' sword and fight injustices in our community,
when the local Buncombe co. school system distributed bibles to 5th and 6th graders at North Windy Ridge school where Ginger's son, Balthazar attends.

There has been much news coverage of the protest, including interviews with Ginger and Sybilsue Strivelli by FOXNEWS national channel,
as well as FOX local channels interviews with Ginger.
The Ashveille Citizen Times, and Weaverville Tribune both carried several stories about the on-going issues involved.
The school board is currently considering a new policy where they will have the schools and staff remain 'religiously neutral' now
rather than favoring Christians as they have for years with the bible give aways, the Chaplains at football games, prayers before wrestling meets, band banquets, and such events.
Many of those news stories can be read here on the APA website on the "APA in the News" pages. (link below)
Ginger Spoke at the Feb. school board meeting concerning the proposed new policy. Ginger, and Amethyst spoke at the March meeting also where the board delayed
the vote on it till the April meeting.
Report on that meetings outcome will be in the Spring 2012 APA Newsletter.

On a happier note, Amethyst, Sybilsue, Harmony and Ginger made a pilgrimage to Chichen Itza's Mayan ruins in Mexico's Yucatan in February.
They spent 5 days exploring Kukulcan's Sacred city, including His pyramid temple, the Venus platforms, the '1000' callums warrior's temples, 'nunnery' temple, the 'Observatory' star Gods Temple.
They also visited the ancient Mayan ball court and enjoyed the light show at the Pyramid...and loved their stay at the amazing Mayaland hotel.
It was a magical and sacred pilgrimage, that they all 4 loved being so blessed to be able to take.
