The
Calera High School Band,comprised of seventy students from grades seven through
twelve, is one of the most popular extracurricular activities at Calera High
School in Calera,
Alabama. This is large considering CHS is a
2A high school consisting of approximately 490 students, sixth through twelfth
grade. The band consistently scores superior ratings at marching competitions
and concert festivals throughout the year.
The band plays at local parades and also performs at least two concerts for the community during the year. The city of Calera is a rural community located about 30 miles south of downtown Birmingham. It is the home of"The Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum" and NASCAR driver Hut Stricklin
