Stefan
Schäfer plays lead guitar with the Supersonics and, on their recordings,
he also plays bass. Although his guitar playing is integral to the trademark
Supersonics sound, it is for his "indie" hair that he will be remembered.
No one told Stefan's hair that it isn't 1969 anymore, so it lives on in
all its lank glory as a monument to mid-nineties '60s revivalism. One day,
it might get cut, but not while Owain keeps telling him to do so. Stefan
is stubborn like that.
Upon moving to Italy in 1997, Stefan burst onto the Milan music scene playing guitar with Oliver St. John's band, The Symbolics, in his absence. Musical differences lead to this collaboration falling apart.
Rumour has it that Stefan has become a virtual recluse, wedded to his guitars, spending his days playing Oasis riffs over and over again until his fingers are bloodied and raw, tears of self pity mixing with the blood to form some sort of horrible soup. But that's probably not true. Probably.
